I'll trade you for your 19 F on Saturday.... Please???

*90 F at night sounds nice, (vs. our occaisonal chilly, breezy summer nights in the 50's F; Brrr!)
but that could be because I resent needing long-sleeves (or warmer clothing) every month of the year here. (freak summer cool-cold spells)
WOW. A HIGH OF 10 SO FAR THIS WINTER? 50'S AT NIGHT IN SUMMER? You are a SUPER TROOPER, I would DIE or kill myself. WOW.

What I do not like about cold weather is:

1. constantly watery eyes
2. constant nasal drip
3. chapped lips
4. hands and feet either frozen from too little clothing, or unusable from being wrapped thickly
5.needing multiple layers of clothes just to get outside at all, then having to peel them all off as soon as indoors, and keep up with hat, gloves, scarf, jackets, etc. I hate just keeping up with my cell phone, so all the clothes drive me NUTS!
6. joints stiff as hell and hard to get loosened up in the mornings
7. nothing outdoors is much fun when its cold, and I am a very big outdoors person (jogging, biking, basketball, tennis, kayaking, canoeing, etc.)
8. vegetation is all dead and dreary.

Extreme heat has its downfalls, but they do not limit me any where near as much as cold weather. Its not even reached the teens here and it has been colder than I care for, so single digits and sub zero temps is simply not for me at all.

I don't really like cold weather... At least not SUPER cold weather. I don't like the heat either.

Maybe its not the actual temp, but all that entails, like driving in snow & ice, pipes freezing, cabin fever, shoveling snow. I would like to live in AK or somewhere with snow, but don't want to deal with all the other stuff.

It must be REALLY cold in Indiana. So anything above 0 even if it's just 2 degrees is considered warm for ya'll?
Considering it was -37 where Hoosier lives today, 19 sounds pretty good

We are going to warm up tomorrow!!! It should hit 7 degrees (not counting wind chill!). Time to break out the light jackets!

ILoveNorthCarolina: Just let me know when you are ready to trade houses!

And you don't think you could handle more than two months of that?

I can "handle" 2 months below 20 F,
the same way I handle 2 or more months below 55 F;
remembering to not leave home without warm clothes and gloves is the main concern.

As far as my mood goes,
it seems winter is not more of a downer than fall weather, or cold spring weather;
I seem to hate living equally as much in weather when it's 49 F and damp, 19 F and damp, or even -19 F.
I guess the main point is once it is cold enough that I have to adjust my life,
the colder it gets makes almost zero difference, as far as mood goes.
(though it is always easier the milder it is; "49 F vs. 39 F", "30 F vs. 20 F", "19 F vs. 9 F"... etc.)

** ILNC, I think you would love it;
living in a climate where you can have several months below 40 F,
because what typically accompanies this kind of climate is:
ZERO days above 60 for 5-6 months straight,
ZERO days above 70 F for 6-7 months straight and
ZERO days above 75 F for 6.5-8 months straight.

I was born Canadian; at the moment I don't have much choice.

Once in a blue-moon,
when we have record warmth
we occaisionally have a full season that I enjoy.

I remember Toronto's hottest summer on record and it was delightful;
- 43 days at or above 86 F (30 C) and maybe 25-30 days at or above 90 F (32 C)
yet I'd never want to see a summer any cooler than that.

** Being Canadian is still better than being born in a war-torn country.
