'Legally' perhaps, but lets be honest the reality is - she is Canadian, Arnold Schwarznegger will always be Austrian no matter how hard he tries!
To me regardless of accent Arnold would be more of an American of Austrian descent than anything else. I mean, he is a bit of both obviously but as it stands now in 2013 he is probably more American.
Same goes for Pamela Anderson. And a bunch of others.
If you live in a place permanently, your whole life and career is there, your kids are there, and you don't even have a place of residence in the "old country" that you go to regularly, well that's really what you "are".
Lol American of Austrian descent?! He is Austrian! He was born and raised in Austria.
Um... he is an American citizen, has lived there since the 1960s and hasn't lived in Austria in almost 50 years. His children are all American and he was the Governor of the largest American state.
Are you familiar with Austrian culture I take it. And I take it you know Arnold personally?
I do have some familiarity with Austrian culture but I based what I said on my familiarity with human culture which tells me that someone who has lived separated from his culture of origin for 50 years, in a non-ghetto, non ex-pat environment, with 40 of those years occurring before the Internet, with no family members from the old country with him, is bound to be almost completely detached from it, and to be a lot more "of the new country" than "of the old one".
I've only heard of the ones in bold, and isn't Russell Crowe from New Zealand?
I forgot Kylie Minogue, Mel Gibson and Miranda Kerr. There are actually more Australian celebrities than I initially thought
Russel Crowe has lived in Australia for a really long time now. He is not bothered by other celebrities who made it big in Hollywood to live in America. He still has New Zealand citizenship and was born there, yet not an Australian citizen. It not really much point here in Australia if you are New Zealander to get Australian citizenship.
