I once talked to a lady who taught at a college. Her last name is Noone. It really confused the kids who read her name in the course catalogue as no one.

Currently, on page 1 of the WTF Tattoos website, there is a photo of a young woman displaying the following, "words", that have been inked onto her upper back area:
Trust Noone
Unless she is a hardcore fan of Peter Noone, I have to assume that neither she nor her tattoo artist knew how to spell, "no one".
Something I heard that made me cringe, when I was studying at my local community college and overheard a classmate's phone call in the hallway:
"Oh hey! Naw, I am not at home. I am at college. I just barely got done!"
I shared that with my older son and it's a running joke now. I've transferred to a four year University... he will text me and ask "Are you still at college?" to see if I am still in class or have left campus and of course I will reply "Naw, I just barely got done!"
Now on a related note, is it wrong for me to feel a bit of psychotic rage when my World Literature exam has spelling errors and typos? The guy has two TA's, has been teaching at the university level for 20-plus years, and has probably recycled that same exam at least a dozen times, so what's the problem!?
On the other hand, one of my best friends is a high school teacher with a degree in English and another in Art History. She taught AP English for years, and now teaches Art. She can't spell worth a damn... but at least she gets someone to edit her stuff and uses spell-check before making anything official! I don't feel superior about it, but spelling has always come rather naturally to me, even when I was very young. Just the way some excel at math.
