I know it is early, and probably premature to rush into comparisons at this point, but yikes, doesnt Machado remind you a lot of a young Alex Rodriguez?

I am sure he will go through his growing pains and ups and down adjusting to mlb, but wow, his upside is gigantic and indeed Oriole fans can be excited about him.

Interestingly, Lowe struck out less than 8% of the batters he faced while with the Indians.

Today he faced 14 hitters and struck out 4, for 28%

Ryan Vogelsong's streak of 19 consecutive starts going at least six innings hit the retaining wall hard tonight. Against the Nationals he was torched for nine hits, two walks and eight earned runs in two and two thirds innings.

Brad Penny was brought in to relieve Vogelsong, and thinking that Ryan's outing won't look so bad if I get hammered as well, he has charitably given up six runs on six hits and two walks in two innings.

Nats lead by two touchdowns. It is still the top of the fifth and they already have 17 hits. The top three guys in the Washington order are 7 for 11 and have scored six runs.

Vogelsong began the game with a league leading 2.27 ERA. It has been inflated to 2.72 and Ryan is now tied for third.
