Nick Tropeano had a very fine debut last night. Gave up two runs in five innings, but Houston gave him an early lead to work with. I'll bet he'll be in next year's starting five. He's got a great off-speed pitch.
I enjoy watching him. There are no dramatics in what he does. Tight situation where a hit is needed... first pitch... HIT... done... next.
Last night - one hit to #200... no long drawn out at bat. First pitch... base hit.
Hits the ball in the strike zone & out of the strike zone... to all parts of the field.
He is number one this year with 200 hits. Second place? 171 hits. Enough said.
Altuve definitely is becoming the face of the Astros. The guy can just flat-out hit, and he's made so many things happen. I don't think Houston would be where it is now without Jose. He'll be setting a lot of records during his time here (which I hope will be long).
The pieces are falling more and more into place for next year. Lawless looks like the real deal in managing the club. I hope he gets consideration for the permanent position.

Is Altuve locked up in a long contract? I wouldn't mind my Angels taking him.
I think you guys have fourth place pretty well locked up. And there's been big improvement in your offense. That Chris Carter has become dangerous ---- he's threatening to reach 40 home runs, though his batting average doesn't scare many. With Altuve, Carter, Castro, Springer, a more consistent Singleton, and Fowler, if healthy, this is a potentially lethal batting order that can only get better.
If you can get that starting pitching consistent among four or five guys instead of just two, then you'll come out a contender next season. And you need Springer healthy, too.
