Is Pete Ellis Dodge still around? "Pete Ellis Dodge, Long Beach Freeway, Firestone Exit Southgate". I remember that from the early 70's!

Below is Mark Reynosa's excellent write up on this.

Van Nuys AAFBU and ANG Site
I lived at the north end of the north/south runway, so I didn't see the Van Nuys airport traffic from home. I did used to see the aircraft used by the ANG at Van Nuys frequently when I passed by there, though. What I also remember at Van Nuys airport was the old P-51 Mustangs that were parked at the north end of the airport, next to Roscoe Blvd. I believe they were privately owned, and used for air races at that time (late 70s), but I'm not sure, since I never heard anything about them.

There used to be a discount model railroad store (California Train Depot) across Roscoe Blvd. from Van Nuys airport that I visited from time to time. There were a lot of model railroad stores around the San Fernando valley area at that time. Most of the ones I remember are now gone, but a few of them still remain.

I remember the jingle vividly, though I hadn't heard it in many years. I don't think they're still around, but the memory lives on:

Youtube is a wonderful thing for bringing back these old memories, isn't it?

Gosh, I remember that P-51 too. I think it was called "Miss America". I remember driving by it all the time in the early 1970s when we would head from Canoga Park to Saugus before the 118 freeway was built.

This might be it:

I think that one was there, but I also remember one or two others. It seems there was a dark blue one and a silver one, if I remember correctly. I don't remember the others having names, but they might have.
