So if the repeal vote was 12-3, does that mean that board members were abstaining? Man, we need those two votes!

The Toddler's own job was basically a family handout if you ask me.

Yes. They were absent I believe. I am still looking for the actual record to see who was absent and who voted against. I am pretty sure I can make an educated guess though on who did not vote for repeal.

Oh nevermind I found it:

================================================== ================================================== ==============================================

"Yes on repealing sales tax increase (12)

Democrats: Joan Murphy, Joseph Mario Moreno, John Daley, Larry Suffredin, Roberto Maldonado, Bridget Gainer, Forrest Claypool.

Republicans: Gregg Goslin, Tim Schneider, Tony Peraica, Elizabeth Gorman, Peter Silvestri.

No on repealing sales tax increase (3)

Democrats: Robert Steele, Jerry Butler, William Beavers.

Absent (2): Democrats Deborah Sims, Earleen Collins.

Commissioners who voted in favor of the tax increase last year and also voted to repeal it today: Murphy, Moreno, Daley, Suffredin."

I would have made a perfect guess.

Here is who voted Yes on the increase when it was passed:

Remember these names when it comes time to vote. Unless you all feel very happy about being sheep and getting your wallet stolen.... They ALL need to go.
All of these people voted YES for the tax increase and more waste in the county...I urge you to vote against these people if you live in their district.

T. Stroger (D-Chicago) President

E. Collins (D-Chicago) 1st District

R. Steele (D-Chicago) 2nd District

J. Butler (D-Chicago) 3rd District

W. Beavers (D-Chicago) 4th District

D. Sims (D-Chicago) 5th District

J. Murphy (D-Crestwood) 6th District

J. Moreno (D-Cicero) 7th District

R. Maldonado (D-Chicago) 8th District

J. Daley (D-Chicago) 11th District

L. Suffredin (D-Evanston) 13th District

I have a really bad logical feeling we will not get them.

William Beavers is perhaps my least favorite politician in Chicago. I can't wait till he retires or kicks the bucket. It sounds cold, but he is a corrupt, racist, worthless moron.

^Robert Steele and Jerry Butler are not much better actually. In fact I think they are worse than Beavers. Deborah Sims and Earleen Collins are much more reasonable this shows to a point in the fact that they were absent.^

Why is there such an absurdly high override threshold?

I believe this was changed to this degree under John Stroger. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, that's an 82% threshold! I've never seen such nonsense before! even if it dropped to 3/4, that would be 13/17. Three quarters or two thirds are much more common override standards.
