Have you ever heard the term 'baby Christian"? A person who has been recently saved, may not know much about God, but the Spirit will encourage him/her to grow, and you grow by studying the word. Some people stay as baby Christians for decades, and never grow.

The Word of God is the Christian diet. Eat it, and you will grow. Paul said he will first feed baby Christians milk to nurture their faith, and when they are ready he will feed them meat.
Where does it say grow in faith by reading the bible ? and come to think of where does it say he gave us the bible?.
Finn what do you think about this place we are called to enter in, and where do you think it is located ?, let me tell you it's a wonderful place,it's also more real than the shadow made of it.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrew 10

How does one go about rejecting the Holy Spirit? Did you mean he rejects the motivations of the Holy Spirit? I'm thinking we're on the same page but just want to be clear.

Not only eat it, as the devil has eaten it, but consume it. Digest it.
Eat, breathe and live His Word.

Oh, the Lord Jesus is too wonderful for me! We could go on and on about what He's done for us and what He's given us.

Have you ever stopped and looked around- just in your home? Everything, and I do mean everything belongs to Him. Without Him, saved or non-saved would have nothing.
Well, if you reject it, you reject salvation, but those who have already received the Spirit can prevent/quench/grieve it from working in our lives, and if we do this, it will keep us from growing in faith.

The Bible tells us to pick up the shield of faith:

"In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one."

So there is indeed something we need to do, but apparently there are those who believe everything is automatic and there is nothing we need to do.

Why does God want us to grow and prepare?

Ephesians 6 put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ

The only Word of God we have is Jesus who abides with us as the Holy Spirit within. Paul was talking to the ignorance of our species in that era. What he gave them was milk for they were still carnal. We were supposed to mature as a species and require solid food . . . but the leaders stagnated the churches at the milk stage of ignorance. There has been a deliberate attempt to prevent any knowledge or maturation to occur because belief in the ancient ignorance is praised as a sign of faith. Knowledge is condemned and the Holy Spirit's guidance about what God has "written in our hearts" is rejected. It is a pathetic tragedy worthy of the Greek theater including all the superstitious trappings of ritual and idolized worship of the "written in ink" ignorance in the bible.

I agree too Mystic .

The Fundamentalists love quoting and bashing unbelievers with this verse

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20

If God can show an unbeliever something without the aid of the bible, how much more can he reveal and speak to the spiritual mind of the believer without the aid of the bible ?. Yet for some unknown reason this is to hard to comprehend for the bible worshipper. Before you bible worshippers get on your high horse saying i'm belittling the scriptures, far from it, the believer is led by the spirit, not the bible.

There is a spirit within men, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.

Hebrews 11:1 (New King James Version)

Hebrews 11

By Faith We Understand

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I read the Bible because it is the Word of God, but if you can't trust it, then by all means, don't read it. It seems you guys you don't trust the Bible, yet you offer quotes from there. Does that make sense to you?

We do not trust ignorant literalist superstition and worship of it as inerrant and God's Word in defiance of Jesus' explicit guidance to the contrary. What God has "written in our hearts" guided by His Holy Spirit is far more reliable. The scriptures are USEFUL (profitable) for instruction and hope, period. They are God-inspired . . . NOT DICTATED. Bible idolators are retaining an ancient "written in ink" ignorance corrupted by human interpretation into "precepts and doctrines of men. They are stagnating their spiritual development to maturity by praising ignorance as a virtue of faith. Doesn't seem like a wise move to me.
