How can it be that Mark 15:25 says that it was third hour [about 9 AM] that they crucified Him and in John 19:14, Pontius Pilate was still judging Jesus [about 12 noon].

I asked in Yahoo Answers: "Is Sabbath singular or plural in Matthew 28:1 and Mark 16:1?" Kimon, maybe a native Greek linguist, answered.
Kimon said that "Matthew 28:1 seems to be plural, but there are no punctuation marks ... Mark 16:1 is singular."
The spirit of Ama revealed that Jesus was crucified on 08-17 which I find to be true and correct. The year is 1 BC.
Matthew 28:1 is plural because there were really more than one Sabbath following Jesus' crucifixion. The Sabbath were:
first, the high day Sabbath which I found to be the New Moon Festival on 3760 Elul 1 (1 BC 08-18) (John 19:31);
second, the regular weekly Saturday Sabbath on 3760 Elul 2 (1 BC 08-19); and
third, the Sabbath of the followers of Jesus on Sunday, 3760 Elul 3 (1 BC 08-20).
These three Sabbaths are what Paul was referring to in Acts 17:2.
Mark 16:1 is singular because if refers only to the Sabbath of the followers of Jesus on Sunday, 3760 Elul 3 (1 BC 08-20). It was only after their Sabbath that Mary Magdalene et al. went to the market to buy the sweet spices that they would anoint Jesus with early the following morning. Jesus was crucified in summer wherein the market was open in the morning, close from about noon to about 3 or 4 pm because it was hot, and open again till 30 minutes to one hour after the sun had set. This was their only window of opportunity after the three-consecutive-day Sabbaths. That Sunday was a regular market day and neither a high day nor the regular weekly Sabbath.
So those who think about a crucifixion with one Sabbath must consider that Matthew 28:1 is plural and that there were at least two Sabbaths between crucifixion and resurrection.

Jesus died on Friday the Jewish month of Nisan the 14th day. Friday Nisan 14 would still count as one day.
Jesus still slept in the grave (Acts 2:27) on Saturday. Saturday Nisan 15 would count as one day.
God resurrected Jesus out of the grave on Sunday. Thus, Sunday Nisan 16 would count as one day.
Since it was still dark when people went to the empty tomb that ' darkness ' could have been still considered as night.
We get up after midnight and still consider that as night even though we do Not use a Lunar calendar.
I find there is No mention as to the ' amount of hours ' Jonah was in the belly of the BIG fish at Jonah 1:17.
So, it seems we do Not have to be dealing with literal 24 hour days.
