Sorry, but Jesus did not come up with any new sins.

Coveting was already a sin under Moses.

Coveting is an act done entirely within your heart.

Jesus expounded on what Lust was.

Giving yourself selfpleasure isn't a sin as I like to scratch my back every once in a while or eat some cherry nut ice cream.

Selfpleasure is a sin when it involves other things like lust.

The topic IS a sin because you are committing fornication/adultery and/or lasciviousness. It's also unclean.

So question is....who do you know that does this and does NOT lust in their heart?
Hey, thanks for putting it that way. Never really thought about it that way before. I do suppose if one was lusting over their spouse, they probably wouldn't be keeping it a solo activity

BUT-- what about situations like long term involuntary separation from a spouse (military, business, etc), OR... the fact that some marriages are also flawed in the way that one person may be uninterested in sex while the other is, and strongly desires a sex life with their spouse, but the spouse is not returning those feelings. Could you argue that their lustful thoughts are for their spouse, and would that be wrong?

pornography is a sin for these reasons
1. You're lusting (fornicating/adultery/lasciviousness)
2. It's unclean
3. it can and will lead to addiction
You've never lusted? Thus the reference to dead people...so you don't have a pulse?

A sin is a sin. Whether you're with your spouse or not...in the military or on the planet mars.

Sins do get forgiven if you repent.

I'm writing about Chrisitianity here since this is a Christian forum.

If you believe in something else then you should read the forum name as we're trying to give 'Christian answers' not personal opinions or other beliefs.

Coveting was never allowed by the Law.

Coveting is purely within your head.

Coveting is not an outward action.

Jesus reminded people of that fact.

In what manner is it 'unclean'?

Is it dirtier than urinating?

Does it carry germs?

The Bible does not say that it is 'unclean', and the Bible lists of unclean things is a long list. So if it is not spiritually unclean, then what makes it unclean?

Both the Hebrew and the Greeks words translated 'lust' mean desire, and they are used many times. Both as positive words and as negative words.

To desire/lust something good for you is not a bad thing.

God desires/lusts for the good things for His people.

It is in the context of a passage where we decide that the usage is either good or bad.

Some mens doctrines try to make 'lust' sound bad, while 'desire' sounds good, to God they are the same.

If you covet after something forbidden to you, specifically someone else' property that is sin. Whether their wife or their ox, whatever it is.

If you desire after your wife, that is not a bad thing.

Actually no. I thought it was not possible but reading your bible, meditating and praying everyday will decrease stress, anxiety and helps modulate aggression.

forest - masturbation is a sin.

People love to try to fit in the bible according to their lifestyle.

Jesus said that you commit sin in your heart ....

I wonder what a person is thinking about when he's committing the topic at hand?
