If you don't like the FAA's definition of an International Airport, take it up with them. PTI's airservice is, what it is. All you have to do is Google it. Their site doesn't say those flights are non-stop. It says...
We've had this debate before, but I just really don't see putting Augusta in the same tier as Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Durham.
- The 3 NC metros each are home to international airports; does Augusta even have international service?
Not a valid claim. NC has two airports with international service, not three.
Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem International Airport (GSO) is international in name only. Having an "on call" Customs facility means nothing when it comes to being a "real" international airport.
Let's just compromise and say that PTI is a much busier airport. In this case, I don't think the "international" designation means much since one can't actually catch an international flight from PTI.

A very true and accurate statement.
I think Augusta is underserved for its size, as is PTI.
Population and cityscape, Atlanta wins hands down. They've had 40 yrs to get where there at and CLT didn't start coming up until the 1990s. Market wise, CLT has just as many fortune 500 companies, and its a financial center, so I can see people comparing it. People do compare PRESENT CLT to Atlanta, they compare the CLT of 2025, to Atlanta. Ive been told by some old timers, that if you want to see what Atlanta was like 30 yrs ago, look at Charlotte, if you want to see what Atlanta was like 60 yrs ago, look at Birmingham.

Actually Atlanta has been booming since just after the Civil War ended. Some of the city's largest population growth has come since 1990, but we can't just discount Atlanta's massive growth and development in past decades. I'm not sure exactly when Charlotte began to boom, but I do know that it was about the size of Winston-Salem in the early 20th century.
I have lived in Charlotte for the last five years, and have never met anyone comparing it to Atlanta. I have never heard the term "Atlanta" spoken since I've been here.
Atlanta is more like 30-40 years ahead of Charlotte. No comparison. Atlanta is more along the lines of DC,Miami, and Dallas. Charlotte is nowhere near those cities.

I've lived in the Charlotte area for seven years (12 if you count my college years), and comparisons to Atlanta will come up every now and again, but it's hardly a frequent thing.
