The Big D is Dallas, at least that is what I would I would think of if I heard that.
on the Rose Capital, Pasadena CA would jump to my mind; actually it is the only place that comes to mind with that name
You have the Rose Bowl and Parade in Pasadena, but I've never heard it referred to as the rose capital. Tyler is the only city I've heard that nickname for, but I will admit that most people likely do not know that.
Quit lying. Most people know Big D is Dallas. Never heard that regarding Denver. Always heard mile high city. You go to extreme lengths to hate on Dallas. I am also sure there is a reason why Fort Worth has that nickname.
"Yes" the eastsiders gave Fort Worth its nickname Funky Town back in the mid to late 90's. Before that when "Gang Violence" was very high in the city it was called by some the "the Murder Worth". Since than the image of Fort Worth has completely changed. Now its one of the safest big cities in the country.

Uh...yeah, sure go to LA or NYC & ask somebody on the subway what Big D means or is. You'll get plenty of blanks stares.
Is Houston known for being a Southern strong hold that it's appropriate you'd call Dallas Yankeeland? Houston is a Texas city. Texans aren't stuck on that Civil War stuff. They should be stuck on the Alamo. Leave all the Yankee this and Yankee that stuff to Louisiana, they have more of an ante-bellum gripe than Texas does. Houston is filled with transplants also anyway. Texan 1st, Southerner at a distant 2nd.
