That is true for both federal and state. NY as a state sends much more money that goes to places down south than it gets back. NYC residents also pay more in taxes than they get back, but its is due to policy put forth by downstate politicians. Many people upstate did not ask for these policies but are stuck with them. You can have high taxes and a business will still remain in NYC. That does not work in other places.

People in western NY have high taxes because every single tiny jurisdiction has formed a local government (a racket) and taxes the hell out of property owners.

a- Thats only part of the problem. Other factors play a bigger role.
b- That's not a Western NY problem. Layers of local government are common all over the northeast.

It doesnt matter if its all over the NE, we are specifically talking about Western NY here.

It makes me wonder why NY is hated upon so much

Perhaps you should take your own advice and stop accusing people or racism without proof (like you did with me) and putting down the WNY area with blanket statements. I lurk those other forums enough to know who you are and the stuff you pull. Nobody else makes accusations like you and uses the terms you do.

I didnt accuse you of anything, I was describing the Rochester lifestyle and job situation to another and mentioned the racism and YOU jumped out there like the hit dog calling names, and slinging insults.

You pulled the sheet of yourself Elroy.

yes and when talking about WNY you are bringing up an issue that is not the big part of the problem. Other neighboring states have several layers of useless government like WNY but are not taxed as the same rate as us..
