New York does not have more groups, but more people.

And in doing the research, one quickly realizes that NYs numerical lead evaporates when you factor in percentage and how NYs larger numbers for some groups are offset by SFs larger percentages for other groups.

Its really quite interesting.

Meaning NY may have more people, but the probability of meeting someone different from yourself(as far as race and ethnicity) is actually greater in the Bay Area.

And that makes total sense to anyone with real experience in both areas. Bay Area suburbs are more diverse, including most wealthy suburban counties.

wow , nyc does not have more groups but have more people

once again , nyc has more "various" white , hispanic , and black ethnic groups.

san fran only has more various Asian groups.

anyone that knows all the major ethnicites in their city like me can see i am speaking facts.

notice montclair cant name any, and then you have the poster jmann thinking that san fran deserves some credit cause he met 1 austrian , 1 trinidadian , and 4 different african people from 4 different countries lmfaooooo

Which leads me to my next point. This thread is about entire regions.

The NY CSAs diversity outside of NYC is not as impressive as the Bay Area without its major cities.

NY CSA
47.3% of all foreign born residents live outside of NYC

Racially speaking:
48.8% of all Hispancs(of all races) live outside of NYC
47.7% of all Asians live outside of NYC
43.7% of all Blacks live outside of NYC

All major non-white groups have their majorities in NYC proper and the majority of immigrants live in NYC Proper.

On the other hand:

Bay Area CSA
66.0% of all foreign born residents live outside of San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland.

Racially speaking:
70.0% of all Hispanics live outside of SJ, SF and Oakland
62.4% of all Asians live outside of SJ, SF and Oakland
61.2% of Blacks live outside of SJ, SF and Oakland

All major non-white groups have their majorities outside of SF, SJ and Oakland and two-thirds of Bay Area immigrants do not live in either SF, SJ or Oakland.

o region wise ill agree with you that the bay is more diverse , you got that one , cause i know very clearly how diverse the burbs are.

here in nyc long island fails at diversity but all the other regions have loads of it , such as jersey , mt vernon , ct.

so yea region wise i wll give you the bay
