Baltimore, Philadelphia and DC are all very ghetto. Your measure for quality of life is based solely on nightlife? Please.

You obviously have not been to DC in decades. Anything but ghetto

If you think Stamford is expensive don't even look at DC rents.

And yes, I actually notice the difference, just by driving through those towns after living in Hartford County for a total of 27 years. However, neither town can top Avon, which is at $112K. And Avon even gets beat by Fairfield, which is at $120K. So basically, the town of Fairfield beats out EVERY town in Hartford County.

Even more eye opening is that West Hartford is at $82K, much closer in line with Norwalk, which is at $75K!

Hartford County is slightly upper middle class, with a median household income of $65K, versus Fairfield County at $83K.
How much time have you really spent in Glastonbury? I doubt it has been much and if it was any, it likely was in the more upscale places around town. Glastonbury has a range of housing types and after living here for more than 20 years I can say that there are a few uppity people but not as much as you seem to imply. Go to Stop & Shop or the Glastonbury Coffee Shop or any of the smaller local places like Angelos, Foxy Pizza or Kens and you will see it is mostly middle class people.

West Hartford has an even wider range of people and housing types so of course its income level is less. It is not comparable to Norwalk though. The difference mostly is due to the cost of housing and proximity to New York. West hartford is basically like Fairfield in character. Jay

DC is DC. You can't selectively choose which neighborhoods you feel are appropriate to represent an entire city. Sorry.

Well, most people in the Hartford area view Glastonbury as uppity (or top tier), in the same league as the Farmington Valley towns. I mean, that's why housing prices are high there.

So something isn't squaring. Housing prices are so high, but CT forum is extremely active.

If it's so bad here you would see 99% of the people gone. This should be an empty nest by now. With hoards of people jamming up the roads in Florida lining up for low rents like machines

Seriously though the best quality of life right now is ...well not in the US...it's Germany and Denmark and the Netherlands...and relative to that we are cheaper

Sure you can. Stanford's rentals are concentrated in one or two higher end neighborhoods. NYC is about the same as Stamford or actually a bit less once the outer boroughs are looped in. But we all know that the real nyc- Brooklyn and Manhattan are much higher. Thanks for playing.
