I admit, hawking over someone's texts is an invasion of privacy, but don't expect it NOT to be seen.
Some guy was watching a porn flick on his laptop on our flight to Atlanta, and we pretty much got to see the whole thing. Not that we had to crane our necks or anything.
I have to wonder about someone watching porn on a plane. I mean, what's it supposed to do? Get him aroused and then what? lol
I think people complain too much, but that's just me.
I've been in economy next to an overweight person, and yes it's weird to have someone's side fat touching you for 3-4 hours, but it doesn't ruin my day.
I totally understand the value of being in shape (I have a BMI of 21), but unless that person is literally halfway into your seat, I don't get all the hate.
From the looks of that woman, you might be touching arms, or her side fat, but she doesn't look THAT big IMO.
Judging by the pic in the article, the lady is overweight but not obese and I can't imagine her oozing into anyone else's seat. I was stuck between two profusely sweating truly obese men on a flight to Europe once, and it was hellish. The plane was full, so no way for me to move to another seat. I was literally drenched in their sweat because I was wedged between them. That was just unfair and unacceptable and I don't understand why airlines don't either offer wider seats at a slightly higher cost, or expect the purchase of 2 seats when the passenger is too large to comfortably fit into one seat.

Ew, gross! Porn is so depressing! So tawdry! It used to involve violence, routinely, too. IDK if it still does. A passenger like that should be huddling in the corner, by the window, out of others' field of vision.

Right; she's not excessively obese. (The clinical definition of obese probably includes her, at the low end). Not only that, she looks like she could be pretty, when she doesn't have her.hair pulled back. I don't think her problem is her weight; it's her attitude. She over-reacted, which makes me wonder: is this just a case of someone who was raised by wolves, or are there issues behind that weight, like weight gain due to illness, or abuse? It's easy to throw her in the nut-job category, but maybe she's been through a lot in her fairly young life.
It was highly controversial decades back, due to the portrayals of violence. The women's movement covered it in Ms Magazine, protests were organized, etc. That was back in the day of so-called "snuff films", along with the more garden-variety violence.
I am 5'2" tall and weigh about 120 pounds. Just about everyone on a plane is bigger than I am. And they always seem to seep into my personal space. Usually men are the worst offenders. Even men who aren't really that overweight will encroach on my space. I get that they can't really help it, but usually they see me and see how small I am, and than take that as their cue to take up as much space as they want. In my experience, and I know this is completely anecdotal, larger women tend to be MUCH more considerate than men. Men seem to not really care that the woman next to them is uncomfortable. Woman will at least try and/or apologize. Even my husband has noticed this when we fly together.
