I was very far into the position of thinking man, this guy should not have been the candidate, what a screw-up for the Republicans when I got to this information — buried at the end of the 13th paragraph of the 15-paragraph article:
[Iott] added that he has participated in re-enactments as a Civil War Union infantryman, a World War I dough boy and World War II American infantryman and paratrooper.
Another manufactured controversy by the crazed Left.
Dressing up in German S.S uniforms is well absurd. Fortunately, the district is a safe Democratic seat around Toledo, so this guy doesn't have a shot in hell of becoming a Congressman
Thank G-d!
I wonder who he gets to play the Jews in his little game of reenactment.
"I've always been fascinated by the fact that here was a relatively small country that from a strictly military point of view accomplished incredible things. I mean, they took over most of Europe and Russia, and it really took the combined effort of the free world to defeat them. From a purely historical military point of view, that's incredible."
To repeat - Maybe he sees things more objectively than some post-ers here on CD.
Objective: not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased.
Yes, unbiased things like the desire to exterminate non Aryan people...and incredible like actually doing it to so many. There are many other cultures that did a great deal, so to desire this one also means the person condones and accepts the other ideals it represents.
These outlandish rationalizations to defend dressing up like a Nazi tell a great deal, that anyone should ignore the outrageous evil condoned under that banner. Also by one with so many reps at CD shows a great deal about the general attitude here at CD. I am simply astounded and disgusted.
I saw this from family experience as well. My grandfather (and his brother) had a gun put to the back of his head by the SS and marched into the tank brigades as the allies advanced. Once we were old enough, he would tell us about it and at the end say "For everything you strive for, no one must let this evil happen to the world again".
In a word....."yes". He is neither condemning nor glorifying.
Well, heaven forbid anyone should condemn the Nazis.
Seriously, SS? Couldn't they have "re-enacted", I dunno, a regiment of boring Wehrmacht regular landsers? No, they had to go for the type of unit that specifically embodied the Nazi ideology. That Totenkopf cap badge and the lightning runes look so - snappy.
There's a British army term - Walt - used for those who need to bask in the borrowed glory (highly questionable glory, in this case) of uniformed service without actually going to the trouble of joining up, wearing a uniform and standing a watch or two in real life. This fellow is obviously a Walt extraordinaire. This unofficial British Army site describes the phenomenon pretty well:

It's about military history, not Nazism, not that the Left has any real fondness for the former, either. But this is what they do, it's who they are - they'll smear anyone for anything if they think it might help them hold onto power.
Don't assume that because I don't condemn the person who participates in a German WWII reenactment that I am glorifying the evils perpetrated upon the world by Nazis.
