Jeb should have just said young people want free stuff. It would be a bit more accurate.
Or Jeb Bush could have keep his mouth shut and not mentioned "free stuff". How about he mentions what he can do in regards to schools, jobs, safety, rights, instead of bringing up "free stuff".

If he talks about real issues he loses the short attention span red meat crowd who is in control of the GOP right now. Substance puts them to sleep. They demand political theater, over the top rhetoric and demonizing everybody who is not like them. If Jeb! is going to remain in the race he has to cater to the lowest common denominator in the GOP, the Tea Party crazies.

How much of the GOP consists of Tea Party types? That could be a game changer. If Bush speaks on the issues, the lowest common denominator might go away. However, wouldn't this attract more people?
If the Republican Party wants Black votes, stop bringing up the subject of "free stuff". Talk about improving the schools, making the neighborhoods safer, creating businesses and jobs, making the schools better, making sure rights are respected. Approaching Blacks as if they are a burden is no way to get Black votes.
Republicans do talk about these things. What makes you think that they don't?

One reason to stop giving in to the Tea Party. Ignore those elements and reach out to everyone else. If everyone else votes, how much more can the Tea Party do?

Look. Black people, on average, tend to be pretty poor. And live in very impoverished neighborhoods and towns. There are very high rates of single parenthood and teenage pregnancy. I've lived in a neighborhood that had a lot of section 8 housing in it. A good portion of the people who lived in those units, and all public housing units for that matter, were black. All of these things suggest that a lot of black people will want government largesse. Those are just the facts. I don't see the point in denying it.

On average. Not the majority of Blacks. How is some politician saying "Blacks get off welfare" going to make people vote for him?
And what about the Blacks that aren't on any public assistance? Last time I checked, how many Blacks showing up to hear Republican politicians speak are on public assistance? Not many at all. And what about the Blacks who work for a living? So what if there are more Blacks on public assistance compared to other groups? That still leaves a majority of Blacks not on welfare/public assistance.
And aside from underclass Blacks, how many Blacks are actually asking for more "free stuff"?
