This election cycle has become completely about ENTERTAINMENT and not about actual policy debate.
Agreed. Which is why I won't watch anymore debates until the primaries winnow the field down. Then we'll move past the entertainment stage into something more substantial.
No love lost for either Trump or FOX News, but I understand why he'd boycott the debate.
It was obvious in the first debate that Kelly's job was to throw softballs at JEB and Rubio and attempt to make Trump look bad. He was the only person on that stage that was asked anything resembling a real question, and they weren't good questions at that. It does him little benefit to be there, and he's not about to help FOX's ratings by participating.
Last election cycle, people accused others on here of being paid to write posts against a certain candidate. I thought those people were wrong. This election cycle, I'm thinking I was wrong about the last election cycle and people being paid to write posts on here against certain candidates.
Haha. Yeah right. How amusing.

The media has been "running hit pieces" on every candidate since Lincoln, for crying out loud. Trump isn't special. He doesn't get to be treated any different than other front-runners have experienced since our country began. The whole election process is a trial by fire and Trump is proving he can't handle the heat, which means he's not suited to be the leader of the free world.
I agree with the central idea of what you are saying. But what 'hit pieces' have the 'media' - not to be confused with the other candidates - been running on Trump? And asking Donald Trump about his previous comments and conduct is not a 'hit piece'. If you cannot ask candidates about these matters, what in the world can you ask them about?
These candidates may be ashamed to be confronted with these sorts of questions, as Donald Trump clearly is, but in that case the problem is not with the media or whoever asking about what the candidate did or said. The problem is what the candidate did or said and that the candidate did or said it.
For their previous comments and conduct, these candidates should very certainly be held accountable to the voters. Each and every one of them.
You all realize of course, that Trump's decision not to do the debate doesn't just hurt Fox News. The other candidates may be dreaming of 20 million eyeballs and ears on them but now may get half that amount listening to what they say. That's the real reason Cruz challenged Trump to a debate. He's got the most to lose. Trump should tell Cruz he's on to him.
20 million? LOL
Have you checked the ratings for the last republican debates? I'm sure you have but they don't fit your agenda so you are not bombarding us with your "statistics".
The ratings have dropped dramatically since the second republican debate, and that was while your emotional candidate was still going. Your candidate is not as special as some of you think.
I don't think they set "him" up persay, I do think they're trying to set up a potential car crash to draw eyeballs to another non-debate debate and it may have just backfired.
Ask yourself this, what chops does Kelly have that lends her to be a moderator of anything? Is she a financial wiz? Is she a foreign policy expert? How about a political expert?
Nope, she's a tabloid news show person. So why put her on the stage? Why, to hopefully ignite a new controversy that they can yap about for the next several news cycles or at the least fan the flames of the old controversy that most have pretty much forgotten about.
I think Fox is realizing that the "debates" this cycle have turned more into an insult fest and less about actual substance and wants those drive by eyeballs.
R=$ (ratings equal dollars)
Fox will be losing a nice chunk of their market share. CNN has been broadcasting Trump's live rallies, while Fox stays with their regular afternoon, and evening programing.
As an aside, Ted Cruz offered to have a one on one debate, Trump should agree to have a televised debate with Cruz tomorrow night, while the Fox debate airs.

Trump would never do that. He knows he'd end up looking like the idiot he is. Nope, Trump has shown us that running away is his preferred course of action.
