Creole chicken cakes, steamed broccoli, and some pineapple upside down cake that we brought home from a restaurant last night.

I am going to make a chicken, tomato, parmesan, mozzerella, and fresh basil sauce. I think I will serve over rigatoni.

I’m making borscht is honor of my late Belarussian Grandpa, to be served with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkled with fresh dill. His was not good, he was a terrible cook. I hope mine turns out better.

I used beets, onions, carrots, garlic, green and red cabbage, beef better than bouillon, and a little lemon juice and butter.

DH will probably be “not hungry” and find the ice cream again.

A small bowl of bolognese pasta & a diced cucumber with a bit of sour cream, preceded by 3/4 of a La Maison Farmhouse Ale. The ale had an unpleasant twist to the flavor... must be the added honey... thank goodness it's sold only in 4-pks... so, I tossed the rest into the roast I'm slow cooking overnight. In fact, I'll probably use the rest for cooking... really didn't enjoy it.

Then again, shouldn't I have known it might be dodgey, given the can design?

Truth be told, the sauce was flavorful, but I didn't enjoy that either... wasn't in the mood for tomatoes, but, I got a giant of a deal on a dozen ripe beefstakes & had to do something with them right away.

If anyone wants to come over, you're free to leave with a parting gift of 6-qts of frozen bolognese & 3 pints of icy cold skeleton ale.

Have a good beginning to your weeks, All!

In celebration of one of my children's 25th birthday (holy crap, wasn't I just 25?):

Premium organic grass-fed rib eye steaks marinated and then broiled (seriously high price tag - only for special occasions like this), with baby mixed mushrooms broiled in butter, garlic, and honey for steak topper.

Yellow fingerling scalloped potatoes with fresh mozzarella cheese, cracked black pepper, heavy cream and chives.

Mixed green salad with tomatoes, avocados, and candied pecans, home made balsamic/vinaigrette dressing

Home made cherry turnovers with gourmet vanilla bean ice cream

Cane sugar "throwback" Pepsi for the birthday boy (we don't do high fructose corn syrup in this house)

Coffee for all and then an after dinner glass of dessert wine for me (the cook) while everyone else washes the dishes

Now, back on the diet!

I WOULD be hungry - I love borscht! It is hard work and time intensive. But so worth it!

Owe you a rep - the powers that be say that I have said that I've given you too much.

I just decided to give in to my urges - I had a small, garden salad first.

And dinner was Ice Cream. Two scoops.

Ice cream dinner is a favorite of mine! Especially in summer.
