Lol...

It's just us for the holidays, for the first time, so we made chicken tortilla soup tonight. We were supposed to make homemade salsa for the tortilla chips, but we'll do that tomorrow.

Tomorrow will also be a basic pesto chicken dish, and I'm also going to throw together a bunch of leftover cheeses (from our 5 Cheese Penne meal) to make fondue.

Not very traditional, but it's just what we were feeling (and using what we had on hand).

Well it is officially Christmas morning of 2021 and I'm going to have my regular peanut butter and black berry jam sandwich for breakfast with a side of banana and tangerine and be thankful for it. #1 son will be stopping by later today and that will be a special treat for us. The rest of the day will be quite normal as we graze our way through it with a glass of iced peach tea not far away. Wishing everyone a great Christmas Day and may you all have a Prosperous New Year.

Merry Christmas everyone! We will be grazing leftovers from dinner last night, and some leftover pasta too.

We ended up grazing and not cooking dinner. I didn't feel quite well, and my son didn't get up until 2 PM. 'Tis the season for getting sick.

We noshed, munched, and nibbled on celery, cucumber, red pepper and dip, raspberries and blood orange, Calabrese salami and smoked summer sausage with two mustards. There was also an amazing gorgonzola, Boursin garlic and herb, and some Cracker Barrel cheddar because it was in the refrigerator. Though we had three kinds of crackers, we only ate baguette.

We each had a tiny, beautiful, pastry from the fancy store. They were delicious. The glazed berries on the custard filled pastry shell were perfect.

I don't know about anybody else but we aren't going to need to cook for 3 days.

With enough sides and 2 entrees it all works out fine. Leftover meals give the preparers a day off...

Absolutely, leftover holiday meals give me memories of waking up, thinking about a midnight snack, go down to the kitchen only to find my dad and brother both already eating large turkey sandwiches!

The most memorable was when my parents had a huge, screaming, cursing, chase-each-other around the house fight. After I ran out of the house my father suddenly remembered his 8 y.o. daughter, heated up a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup & threw in a sliced hot dog. I still hate that soup.

I made a dish with shawarma seasoning last night. Maybe my spices were old, but it wasn’t very flavorful. But then I’ve never had shawarma before, so I don’t know.

It a recipe from the latest Real Simple magazine. It sounded so great, and healthful, but it was unremarkable.
