Same here. May to September the A/C is ON, even that means I have to eat beans.

LOL...agreed. I also try to plan intelligently. If I am going grocery shopping, for example, I will do that in the afternoon when it is hottest and use the store's ac instead of my own. Not necessarily to save money, LOL...but because mentally I feel better if I am able to say I didn't use it during all the hottest part of the day.

I also won't buy generic salad dressing. No way, don't care how good someone claims it is. Full price salad dressing for me.

My list so far.....

1. I won't quit drinking coffee- it's my only indulgence that I must have
2. I won't buy generic shampoos/conditioners/soaps.....they suck
3. I won't buy cheaply made clothes, but good quality clothes I find on sale- however I rarely shop & clothes aren't big on my list of necessities
4. I won't ever "eat cheap" meaning grabbing stuff from the dollar menu at McDonald's or Burger King- it's processed garbage, a 99 cent heart attack.
5. I won't do without AC in the summer, I can't stand hot, humid days.
6. I also won't shop at thrift stores
7. I won't ever buy a brand new car- depreciation is ridiculous
8. I won't buy used mattresses, bedding, etc.
9. I won't get a membership to Sam's Club, or Costco- I think I can get better prices elsewhere, without a membership fee.
10. I won't go cheap on gifts at Christmastime/ Birthdays for my family

My list of what I am doing:

I don't have cable
I cook lots of pasta/rice/beans
I don't eat meat often
I do use coupons if it's something I regularly buy
I look at the sales ads & go where the best prices are
I try to shop in bulk, if it's something we will use

I'm curious why a few of you won't shop thrift stores, unless there are concerns about bedbugs or something. Not judging! Just curious. Here's mine.

I won't give up organic.
I won't deal with apt. mold or insects.
I won't give up internet.

Wow that's it. Everything else is pretty expendable, even the 'net if I could actually manage to get a full-time office job. Even my ebooks come from the library.

Why on earth do you do something for this reason? Just because your mom did? Do it for frugal reasons, not because your parents did it.

People change the oil in their cars every 3000 miles "because that's what my dad did." Almost no vehicle made today needs oil changed that frequently.

On the topic of this thread I will never drink cheap beer. Ever.

If I could have thought of it all myself my list would match yours except for two things. I do shop at thrift stores, but rarely shop anywhere 'cause I hate shopping, and I do have cable/satellite. Oh, and I don't buy in bulk. It's just me so no reason to.

I would happily use more coupons if they'd make them for things I actually use! I won't use one just to try something new, I don't eat processed foods any more than I have to and I get a 10% discount on fresh fruits and veggies where I work. Although I do stay stocked up on frozen veggies as well. Never have cared much for canned. Unless I can it myself.

I won't give up my satellite/internet/phone. It covers my entire social life/expenditure. I AM, however, going to change over to a cheaper provider...soon.

I will not:
use cheap toilet paper
do without AC or heat
cancel cable, DVR or internet
stop eating out once a week
sell my car
stop buying birthday gifts for my family
color or cut my own hair

I will:
clip coupons for groceries and restaurants
buy cheaper clothes and shoes (not Walmart cheap)
buy gently used furniture
use a cheap phone (not a smart phone)
go without a vacation

I won't rest my head on a polyester pillow. I only buy down pillows.

Reading all these posts in response to "Article: 10 Things I Just Won't Do to Save Money" makes me wonder if anyone on this board has ever been unemployed for any extended period of time ...

Not being snarky, everyone has their own way of doing things.

Just makes me scratch my head.
