Excuse me, one of the reasons I moved here among other choices offered was due to the existence of a proper winter .

I lived in hot and humid India before, and could not handle the year round unforgiving heat. I kept on fainting & dehydrating year after year. I NEED a proper cold season with highs below freezing and lots of moisture for pristine snowfall . As you can see from my earlier post, I am pi**ed we did not get a white christmas.

I visited phoenix in march as a kid, and trust me, I got sick of the constant broiling heat.

Anything over a couple of inches required me to go out in my pajamas and shovel a potty path so they could do their business. Driving in it is stressful, my job NEVER closed due to weather, so if I stayed home I didn't get paid.

So, yes. Stressful. And I am glad to be DONE with it.
A treeless broiling desert and a pair of yapping chihuahuas inside an AC'ed mexican-style house sounds like a taste of hell to me.

Gimme a snowy boreal forest and husky sled dogs instead lol

To each his own

Because they think the job market is a better reason, but like it or not, whether one likes the weather will be a big bearing on one's life.

Check this article out about Salt Lake City inversions. Choking smog, lasts for months in the winter there.

Here are some pictures.

I don't mind winter, but I need to see the sun! And have fresh air.
I remember going through SLC as a kid. It was disgusting.

Have you been to the desert?(those that haven't always imagine it to be a wasteland of nothingness, which is not true) It is so beautiful and there are LOTS of trees here (and mountains! SO GORGEOUS). I have a tree in my backyard that needs some cutting back, actually. There are flowers blooming now! My house isn't Mexican style, either And we will be spending PLENTY of time outside enjoying the lovely sun.

Enjoy being stuck inside with no power when the ice brings the lines down and the endless grey days in a dead landscape! Merry Christmas!

Relocated from Miami to the Twin Cities for an amazing job. The best I have ever had. I have 5 years till my youngest is off to college and I think I am out after that. Great job here - and many of the people are nice - but many are not - and are so defensive and irritatingly pleased about their choice to live here and "weather the winter" - for us it is just not somewhere I want to spend the rest of my days and the winter is nice for the first 3 months - then moves into ridiculous.
