As soon as they change the law we will be triggered on. I went to that link and we would be triggered "on" for 20 weeks if GA law allowed it. I am pretty sure that the 3 weeks they are talking about to trigger "on" in HB 581 is after the state reaches the 6 % rate for three months consecutive. Three weeks after the 3 consecutive months. I really hope we don't have to wait three more weeks after the law passes. At the bottom of HB 581 it states that the Commissioner has until May 25.
Also every state is setting up different rules. I have been keeping up with the other states, but GA is going to setup there own rules for who is eligable.

Well with 8 million people getting UI-that's 6 million for regular and 2 million for EB, somebody up in DC needs to get a clue. There are NO JOBS. At this point if I could find a job at McDonalds I would take it, but the reality is there are few to none available jobs. And if you do send a resume or get to fill out an application-it is you against 500 other people. Thanks for all the info all of you have been posting. I come here now to find out what is going on because the media and newspapers sure aren't relaying the information!

waiting on the governor to sign
I talked to the GDOL today and it sounds like Perdue could sign the ammendment as early as next week. May 25th should be the new date not July 1st. Further details will come out once Perdue signs the legislation.

Well, you got more information from the GDOL than i did. Its unbelievable how little knowledge the workers in those offices know, or should i say the lack of info. That they are giving us. I don't understand why Georgia News media is not covering the high rate of Ga. Unemployment and information as to what is being done about it. Governor Perdue and Michael Thurmond has steady incomes, and they seem to care less about the number of people that is struggling to make ends meet, because their 2nd tier EUC has ran out. I do beleive the people of all the states will send out a message to the state representatives in the next election. I think they forgot we put them into office and we can certainly remove them out.

No lie "the wiz"-what are they waiting for? I think ole Sonny is going to just let it sit on his desk till the 40 days is up and then it becomes law. The arrogance of these politicians is getting old very fast and you are right-wait till elections. We need a clean sweep across the board-start imposing limits on Congress and get the old out and in with the new. If the unemployment numbers keep moving up, there will be a serious grass roots movement in this Country and I will be part of it as long as there isn't any violence. The violence would serve no purpose.

There was an article about the 9.2% unemployment in GA on the ajc this morning-no where in the article did it mention anything about HB 581. I am pretty sure the media-both print and news is being told to downplay the numbers and the situation, but that is just my opinion.

I heard today the the unemployment rate in the state of GA declined recently....gee, do you suppose that is because we ran out of benefits and are no longer a statistic? I heard no mention of that in the news report.

Unemployment needs a bailout
I agree with you both. . Legislation was intented for the people. It has now become secondary to the powerful's personal agendas. We need immediate action to help those in need so people can try and keep their homes and feed their families. It's 2009 and I can't even believe we have to discuss this topic. People can watch TV on their cell phones but we can't aid hard working people to remain in their homes? We can pump hundreds of billions of dollars into banker's pockets as they continue to fuel a recession with no remorse but we can't aid people that owe state taxes when they made less than $25000! This country needs more than a recovery package, we need leaders that put the middle class first and write current legislation to aid the people and actually address realities of the american public rather than laugh and talk about nothing all day while millions of people pace around stressed to the max about the welfare of their families! This country is falling apart one day at a time.
