...winter storm warning in effect until 7 am est monday...

The national weather service in greenville-spartanburg has issued
a winter storm warning for heavy snow...which is in effect until
7 am est monday. The winter weather advisory is no longer in
effect.

Several hours of moderate to heavy snow are expected across
southern oconee and pickens counties...as well as stephens
county...through midnight. Snowfall totals will range from 3 to 6
inches. Locally higher amounts are possible where thundersnow
occurs.

The combination of sustained northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph...
Saturated ground and heavy...wet snow will down numerous trees
across the region. This will block roads and cause power outages.
Later tonight...temperatures will fall well below freezing. While
the snow will lay most deeply on grassy surfaces...the freezing
temperatures will result in black ice...which will make driving
very dangerous even where roads are not snow covered.

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...
Food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Just got back home from a ride If you don't have to go out for sure don't! The roads are really bad already and I seen tons of people sliding and going off in the ditches. Still snowing pretty good here in simpsonville took more pictures but will post them later. And will be uploading a video later tonight or tomorrow on my youtube page. The lights have flickered on and off here I hope the power does not go off for a week like the last good storm we had. The trees are already breaking and hanging pretty low.

We were in the NC High Country this weekend. Rained all day yesterday. Started snowing early this morning. Left in the snow at 2:30 this afternoon - roads were covered throughout Banner Elk-Boone-Blowing Rock - turned to rain just south of Blowing Rock. Came back into snow around Spartanburg after 5:00. Love this snow!
