There's a new artical in the Indpls Star this morning-no really new news -but hopefully keeping the story alive so it won't be swept under the rug like I'm sure some are hoping for.

You can find the names of the players by using the google .. one of the perpretrators is the son of a former IU basketball player.

As for taking a deal. Well, rave, you're right, it's up to the victim to an extent. The victims are minors ... if the parents want to carry on it's up to them, not the victim. These young men need to realize that what they've done is wrong. They made probably the first adult decision of their lives and it was a really bad one. The resolution lies with the victims families and I wouldn't blame them one iota if they told the attorney trying to make the deal to stuff it.

Your victim son is OK with it. Everyone already knows the names of those involved in the area, even if you don't get an apology, would you as a parent deny your kid what is basically going to be a debt free ride to college, and even the possibility of maybe $20K in cash after graduation?
You bet I would! First off the student doesn't realize or know all the ramifications this suit entails for the rest of all their lives. Taking the money is just agreeing that money can buy anything. No accountability or consquences for the accuser(s), which apparently from their actions they have never had, to be held accountable.

This is partly what is wrong in our nation today entitlements, elite class perferences and not working for things instead of expecting they be given to us. It is sending the wrong message.

Carmel high school is not the only school this happens in there a bullies, rich kids, sports jocks, school board member's kids that get away with a lot of things in a lot of schools.

Besides if there is a criminal case done there is nothing stopping any of the victim's parents from filing a civil suit afterwards.

Had the school taken firm and decisive action early on I doubt this would have gotten this far. Unfortunately schools tend to cover things up.

Yes, i could tell you all four names of the abusers,it wasn't hard to figure out. The one you mentioned really is disappointing because his father was a well respected member of a national championship team and I looked up to him when I was a kid.I think it all boils down to an elite attitude of entitlement and thinking money can get you out of any jam, which I guess is true alot of times.I hope not this time. I've checked out some things on facebook and you can tell they thought they were pretty cute. (pretty disgusting).

Interesting commentary on the Carmel thugs and the appearance of a cover-up.

Indystar.com allowed the posting of the names of the alleged suspended players in one of their comments sections.

(Robert Kitzinger, Brandon Hoge, Scott Laskowski & Oscar Falodun)

I just learned that one of the kids assaulted was black...this is getting uglier by the minute.

Looks like we can dispense with a trial since y'all already have these kids convicted.

Wrong. The parent can't testify as to what happened, only the victim can. If the victim doesn't want to prosecute, I doubt a judge would hold a minor in contempt of a court subpoena. I doubt that it would even go that far as with reluctant victims, adult or teens, prosecutors would likely decide not to file charges.

Not necessarily. If an adult wants to give a 14/15 year old money, they can. Obviously I wouldn't want my teenager to have access to that kind of money on their own, but that is legal. A minor can't engage in a contract though. I personally would hope for criminal charges, but I can't, and wouldn't, force any teenager to testify if they didn't want to. I would hope the prosecutor's office would feel the same, though they have the power of subpoena if they really want to push it.

Great point. The thing is, how much do you _honestly_ think a person would win in this case? We see settlement after settlement in the tens of thousands for folks victimized by cops. And remember, filing a lawsuit would likely mean an attorney would take more of a cut than if you just accepted a check and hired a lawyer for one hour to review the paperwork.

I am hoping some sort of resolution comes quickly. The longer it takes to investigate, the worst things appear to the public.
