This is a nasty response.
You're stating that everyone who rides the subway is either crazy or a drunk.
Nice brush you're painting with.
On the subway of course its normal working people but you still have a lot of ghetto people, drunks, and crazy people. On the train there is no ghetto people or no drunks or crazy people. Just regular people going to work and that's why I pay extra money to catch the train instead.
Actually the government would rather fund a program that helps ex-offenders get a job. I'm not working with that population right now. I'm working with a population of unemployed people who were laid off from their jobs.
This from someone who up until the moment he was laid off swore blind that the agency he worked for wouldn't be included in the state's budget cuts and is so in tune with local government that he couldn't get the name of his state governor correct.
As young as you are, a 45 min train ride is nothing compared to being unemployed. When I retired at age 55 here's my morning schedule. Up at 5:00 AM - out the door at 5:30. 40 min to the MARTA train, 15 min to work. I had to be at work at 6:45 AM and work 9 hour days. So, at 4:00 PM it was the reverse. Every.single.day. If I could make that schedule at 55, then surely you could handle a 45 min train ride at your tender age. I cannot see you ever being successful with the work attitude and ethics you portray on this board.
Being that I am retired I can do as little or as much as I want/need to. Last week I had to be up and dressed by 7:45 AM as we were having a new A/C system installed. That was a bummer. Now, I'm back on my regular schedule as staying in my jammies all day if I want to.

I would prefer the subway if it saved me time AND if they ran more frequently .... But then again, a 45 minute train ride isn't too bad either (my current train ride is 1 hour each way for one of my part-time jobs).

TVSG, stop acting like a delicate flower, you are a black man who stands well over six feet tall, I don't think you'll be hassled by anyone on the subway, during rush hour.

I don't care how tall I am I have no interest in being around drunks, hoodlums, and druggies. I want to be on a train that has people going to work and school, you know something productive with their life. Not just riding to be riding because they have no destination
Likely, if you are going to work early in the morning, the druggies, junkies and other losers will still be asleep. But, considering you like to roll into work whenever you feel like it, they will probably be up by the time you board the subway.

You don't say...
So, I feel like you just need some hobbies. Whether they be social hobbies like volunteering or doing things with friends, or alone time like hiking in the woods, with all of your racing thoughts floating around in your head, you need to do something. You seem to get 99.3% of your daily enjoyment out of fooling around on this message board, and although you're entitled to do just that, you would probably be happier if you were being productive. Just a thought.

Philly must be a nice city, if the only place you can find drunks is on the subway. Like most commuters, you can read while you're on the subway, and you'll hardly notice the drunks. Maybe you should go into the Philly forum, and ask the subways riders how they deal with all the drunks, while commuting to and from work.
You would rather pay a higher fare to ride a train with a limited schedule and risk being late for work, than take the subway that might have drunks riding with you.
