There is a sign as you come across the green bridge from NH.

Welcome to Maine
The way life should be.

Somebody modified the sign this week.

Welcome to Maine
Bring a generator.

High Pressure in control today. Enjoy it.

Rain moves in northern Maine tomorrow afternoon/evening, scattered for Southern Maine..

Monday another front moves in with more light rain chances across the state, warm day

Temps will be warm Monday in the 50s then start dropping hard with maybe light snow for northern Maine Thursday with the Arctic front
Thanks, Cambium! Power back on a couple of hours before we returned home on Saturday afternoon!

Currently here, at Aurora, ME, 51F Dew Point 50F, Winds SSE 12MPH, Cloudy...

Put in a 10 hr day on Saturday, only to return home to a bright and shining porch light = ELECTRICITY ON! I danced a *** as we turned on the lightswitches and lamps we had grown accustomed to ignoring.....To flush the toilet (when it's NOT brown and not having to have a four gallon bucket close by to do so)..., To turn on the stove (WITHOUT having to light it first), To turn the small electric heater (just for my feet), in the morning..To NOT having to carry a small flashlight to find my clothes in our drawers...To WIFI and INTERNET (because we don't do TV/CABLE)...To not having to worry about changing one's Cell Phone , plan because of increased DATA (cause we do Twitter and Periscope)..To wash my hands and do the dishes with HOT runing water out of a faucet..To have the coffee automatically brew and waiting for savoring when one awakes...To the sweet Music that envelops and soothes our souls...and most importantly....to RINSE all the soap off one's body...without having to precariously balance a GALLON jug of hot water with one hand..To purchaing a generator...Brand new, but it died after a few pulls and we are still awaiting for it to be replaced...Thank you to those hard workers who replaced our lifelines! YOU rock!
Worshipped Jesus this morning (and will continue to do so), with others who seek His love and Presence!
Thankful, so very thankful!

Ok guys... 1st snowfall of the year...Maybe??

Tonights storm will pass to Maines SOUTH so no precip from that.

Friday is the day for first snow (or snowflakes). Nothing big.

An Arctic front comes through, so not only there may be snow, but temps will tank. Struggling past freezing on Friday and Saturday and dropping to teens and 20s.

Quick 1-2 day punch, nothing persistent.

Shut off those outside water valves if you haven't already!

For Bangor: Normal Max is 48°. Normal Low is 30°.

From NWS Caribou: Love when they mention cloud types.

Heads up on the winds with this strong Arctic front Thursday. Maybe some more power outages? Also, possible icy roads with the temp crashing. Also, expect snow squalls Thursday night and Friday do to the instability.

Quote:
National Weather Service Caribou ME
521 AM EST Tue Nov 7 2017

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
High pressure dominates Wednesday with some morning high clouds
towards the coast. In spite of the sun, highs will remain in the
lower 40s. Temperatures will drop off sharply Wednesday with
widespread teens in northern zones and low to mid 20s for other
areas...except the coast. High pressure remains Thursday, but a
warmer SW flow will propel highs to the mid to upper 40s under
continued sunny skies. Some high clouds appear later in the
day...along with some cumulus clouds near the coast. The cumulus
and stratocumulus clouds will spread north during the night
ahead of an approaching cold front. There will likely be some
light shower activity with these clouds due to some modest
instability. Significantly more instability arrives late in the
night with cold front. A sharp upper trough will generate steep
low level lapse rates that will tap into strong low level winds
and mix them to the surface. The warm boundary layer will be
wiped out due to the strong cold advection and precipitation
will change to snow. There will be multiple problems with the
cold front.

First, the wind will be strong enough to down some
limbs and cause power outages...although not nearly to the
degree of the Oct 30 storm.

Second, snow squalls will reduce
visibility for motorists and create hazardous driving near
sunrise.

Third, temperatures will drop so quickly that icy roads
will become a threat for the morning commute.

The air arriving Friday morning will be coldest of the season to
date.
Highs will occur first thing in the morning and
temperatures will tend to fall the remainder of the day. The
winds will be strong enough to gust towards 45-50 mph and
likely continue to cause some power outages behind the front.
A
wind advisory will most likely be necessary...and possibly a
high wind warning. These winds and temperatures will create
apparent temperatures in the single digits to teens by
afternoon...much, much colder than anything experienced so far
this season..
.

Small engines in things like generators and outboards need to be running on ethanol free gas.

Currently here, at Aurora, ME..36F, Dew Point 29F..Winds NNW 7MPH!...
It's mid-week of a six 10 hr work week (not including 12hrs commute)!
Arrived home barely before dark...Thankful to see, the welcoming door (the shed side), waiting for us to enter with lights glowing and lighting our path....
Many still recovering from the Big Blow...
It grieves us to see the hard earned $$$ (spent from those working 10hrs+ a day at minimum wage/$9.00), losing their investment of food in their refrigerator/freezer), lost! We are amongst them, who've acquired compassion by working and living amongst those who suffer....with hope in their hearts for tomorrow!

True.. Northeast areas had record warm Set-Oct. I just hope November can be below normal now.

It snowed in PA today above 600'. Now in MA and CT a little above 1000'.

Its Maines turn Friday. Nothing big. Just a mood changer.
