oh, Alison's right about the waterproof down--forgot about that, and LLBean has some nice colors out too Remember though, water *resistant* and water *proof* are completely different.... the wind resistant fleeces I have are water *resistant*, and I got caught in a rain storm out caching last January that reminded me of that!

Do you prefer long or short coats? I'm pretty sure we're going to freeze our asses off the first couple of winters, so I'm trying to plan accordingly! I remember how cold my legs were even in thick jeans in March. I also remember how wet we got in the snow. Waterproof sounds good!

Funny how when you put in a map quest request for the start to end. ... they don't know where "start is".

I think I see the computer over heating and smoking like I have given it a huge "malfunction."

I have these and love them, but not at $20. I paid $5 for them last winter.

Talmadge Rd. If you asked mapquest for directions to their house you'd end up in a gravel pit on Bingo!

Alison is right. Long coats that cover your hiney are great!

Do you all have slippers? You'll want some cozy pairs on your first morning.

Oh, I've been looking at the cozy sheerling lined styles! We'll all need warm slippers. Those are only holiday gift items here. We go for as little coverage as possible in this climate.

Is faux sheerling as warm as the real deal?

Oh the best ones are handmade, like mittens. Usually can find them at craft fairs, esp. ones put on by a church or grange. Though not sure there will be many in Feb. Most are in the fall. Or, if you can knit, you can make your own.
I had some wool sherlings one from LL Bean and found them too warm. My feet were constantly sweating, and I am one who's feet get cold very very quickly.
Molly may be able to point you to someone in the area that makes and sells mittens, hats, ect.
