I would love to get opinions on the best restaurants to go in Md that are NOT big chains. I know everyone has their favorites- pass them on, with location and a simple description. Here's a few of mine-
Rips, Bowie -A great place for families, with a huge variety of food- fried chicken and ribs to crab cakes and prime rib. Reasonably priced, and the have the best muffins that they serve when you sit down. Crab Shanty, Ellicott City- Awesome seafood- love their salmon, lots of fish, crab and shrip dishes, but they also have fried chicken and steak. El Azteca, Clarksville- The best Mexican I've ever had- recently written up in the Howard County section in the Washington Post. Great Prices. |

Liberty Road Seafood, Frederick --- All you can eat seafood served at your table. The crabs are served hot and just dumped on your table (which of course is covered with a long sheet of brown paper) Great little crabcakes, seafood salad, hushpuppies, steamed shrimp. Actually everything is good there. The place is always packed with locals, which is great sign
Curtis' Weiners - Cumberland. An old style lunch diner in downtown Cumberland. Basic fare, dogs with Coney Island sauce, mustard and onions. Real Vanilla Cokes, Chocolate Rickies. Simple, but fast cheap and authentic. |

I have to second the post about Bare Bones in Ellicott City. Thursdays is all you can eat Prime Rib!! I also liked Salsa Grill in the Security Boulevard area, but I haven't been there in a while, so I hope it still exists. Their Caribbean Paella is great!!
