Ok well if milton is diverse then I guess that's sad. Like I've said I grew up there, my parents still live there and I visit frequently.I don't come across many non white people. I realize there may be more diversity than hingham but that's not saying much.

Maybe you'd like the Savin hill area of dorchester? Near the water, more diverse crowd.

I just don't think milton is all that different than hingham. Slightly more down to earth I suppose depending on which part of milton.

Diveristy can b an odd subjects. A friend of mine while he was in a club in his undergraduate had this experience.

::man walks into a meeting::

"I'm not seeing a lot of diversity in the room"

To which the responses are "I'm not white I'm Puerto Rican" "I'm Middle Eastern" "I'm gay" etc.

There's some that will use diversity as a code word to only mean African American. They without question do not think that sexual preference is diversity etc.

I once worked with a woman from Hingham and got into a debate of which she tried to claim it was "diverse" but had no backing. To be fair I think she's left the town and never went back. Matured quite a bit and moved to East boston.

Why live in Hingham if you don't have to? To be honest I did go to Wallburgers. Waste of time and money, five guys is better any day of the week. The beerworks I will say is pretty decent though. The biggest change has to be the Derby shops. I remember when that was a Osco Drug, Peter Harris, Bradless and...BUILDING 19!

I think there was a Boston Baby there, and White's Bakery has been there for a long, long time.

Oh god, I briefly worked at that Bradlees

I'm not impressed with Wahlburgers, and I agree, Five Guys is much better.

A couple of friends ate at Alma Nova and came way with "Eh, just another expensive Italian joint. [name] has much better food." Haven't eaten there so I can't comment.

I have yet to be disappointed by the beer works.

If we feel like splurging we'll do it at Fresh Market. We don't use TJs much which is funny because for awhile there we were making the trip to the TJs in Hanover.

I will say, though, don't turn up your nose at Whole Foods until you've checked their grocery aisles. It's the perimeter and the HBA aisle which contribute to the "Whole Paycheck" moniker.

The whole area down there has become too congested and populated. Not what it used to be IMO. Not everyone wants a whOle foods or a tj maxx in their neighborhood

I miss Building 19 so much. I always felt like I had to shower after I left there, but you couldn't beat those prices!

Very. It seems that first thing new homeowners do here now is cut down every tree on their property right up to the edge of the lot, increase the lawn, and add an irrigation system. And even though there is a watering ban on all summer, the sidewalks if front of their house are always soaking wet at 5 am. And I know it's town water, not a well. Meanwhile, I'm out there holding my hose between certain inconvenient times on odd/even days just trying to keep plants alive.

Additional rant: The Whole Foods parking lot and Derby Street area is like a bee hive with super aggressive giant suv's cutting in and out, grabbing parking spaces, pulling in front of you. I've actually seen people screaming at each other there on more than one occasion. Fighting over who was there first. And all the while people are simply stepping off the sidewalk to cross into the parking lots disregarding the crosswalks, ignoring the cars, not even making eye contact, because they can.

I know, I know...I'll save Jan the trouble of posting: "Just leave, already".

Nothing is simple. I buy my jeans at the Gap. I like Panera and Chipotle. I might meet a friend for a quick lunch at Whole Foods. They have the best brussel sprouts and an excellent floral department, reasonably priced (surprisingly), and the flowers last two weeks. I can go into Barnes and Nobel, buy a latte at Starbucks, and peruse Dwell Magazine and a few European ones I like and after thirty minutes I feel like I could take on the world. Instant renewal. That's all it takes. I'm happy. I might miss all of that. Then five minutes to get home. Actually, I shop at TJmax, too. I guess it's just the congested/population density part I agree with.

We are looking at rugs now and I bought my first oriental rug at Building 19. The prices and selection were great. I definitely miss Building 19.
