I had never seen a snake like this until today. I looked it up and it's a Red Bellied snake. Almost stepped on it hiking at Kensington today.

Went out for a bit today. 70 degrees where I live and less than 7 miles away on the shore of Lake Michigan it was 49. Amazing what a stiff breeze coming across the lake will do to the temp right on the lakeshore.

This is the "Badger" and the "Spartan" at dock in Ludington. The Badger is getting ready to start her season next month and the Spartan is there to play parts supplier.

It would have been a very wet walk out to the South Pier Light today.

I love it when the Lake gets this way. Not wild, but enough to remind you she has the potential to kick up at times. If you notice there are waves going two different directions here. The main waves coming across the Lake and then ones coming across at almost 90 degrees from bouncing off the breakwall.

Nothing better than a November gale crashing into the Charlevoix break wall. November 6, 2007.

That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early

And every man knew, as the Captain did, too,
T'was the witch of November come stealing.

A few random pictures that I found on my hard drive and thought I should contribute. All were taken near Clarksville, MI.

Here are a few more from this area.

First two my oldest son took while out by the river with me the other day. Not bad for an 11 year old.

He loves this one. Dad and Mom looking out for their little ones.

This was taken on top of a bluff looking North toward the Ludington Breakwalls and Lights.

Same bluff, looking due West over the Lake.

Further down the bluff, looking West again.

A bit calmer than the last couple I posted, this is about 1 1/2 miles down the beach from the Ludington South Breakwall

Further South of Ludington, about 1/2 way to Pentwater.
