We have no store in south Alabama that compares with stores in the Pacific coast where fruits and veggies are just amazing. Publix has a larger selection of produce than others. Just bought sockeye salmon that was fresh and wonderful, but out west is a very common thing. We do not get beautiful exotic mushrooms, and I wish we did...but hey, Publix is still better than most.
Very true, if you take your time and shop wisely you can do very well in publix, also check their online weekly ads for special bargains

I vaguely remember a news story of a Publix opening in Montgomery? about several years ago.

Anyhow, it looked muuch better than any grocery store I've been to(Winn Dixie, Bruno's, Food World, etc.) and even the Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh.

Publix came into the Birmingham market a few years ago, and the very first one opened up two miles down from my house. After going there I never set foot in a Winn Dixie or Bruno's store again! They're MUCH cleaner and the employees are mostly helpful with good attitues (some exeptions like always...). Its like night and day with the attitudes of the employees at Publix versus other stores. Its more like what service USED to be many years ago.

Also, I'm convinced that part of Publix's growth strategy is to locate a store NEXT to a Winn-Dixie and running them out of business.

I don't shop in Super Wal-Marts because I don't want to buy frozen/cold food items that have been sitting in the toy section for a couple hours until some employee decides to put it back.

OMG please dont tempt a girl like that! I live right behind that area off Congress St in the Detonti Square. I am so jealous of Fairhope's Publix but may have to start making the hike until we get one, tho I would love Daphne too I wouldn't be surprised with the Eastern Shore Center blowing up like it did! Please keep me updated...

Publix is all over our metro area here, plus we have several other chains that are on the nicer side, but I go to Publix here for exactly this reason.

The first and last time I went to a Publix was about 8 years ago in Birmingham and I can still remember how clean the store was and how nice the workers were. I will do all of my grocery shopping there

I love Publix! I just moved to Daphne and I'm a little less than 10 minutes from the one in Fairhope. I hate going to the grocery store but when I go there, I don't come out angry and mad at the world like I do if I were to go to Walmart or somewhere else. Yes you pay more, but the store is cleaner, the aisles aren't jammed up with inconsiderate, slow people who can't get out of your way; and they have alot of specialty items.

It's an all-around better shopping experience. Walmart is a zoo, and even in this day, sometimes it's not worth saving 5 or 10 bucks to deal with all the hassle that goes with it.

Publix always has a great selection too. They will order you anything they don't have and are so nice about it.. Their bakery is one of the best around always good cakes and pies, sorry Pollmans.
