(at least they were at almost 7000 feet altitude ) So we picked some as most were still green, but we got enough for a nice batch and went home and my mother make home-made ice cream with eggs from my SIL's chickens and fresh cream from my sister's cow.

Home made ice cream with fresh wild raspberry topping, now THAT is eating

Trouble is, I have to go find some more raspberries now, those things are addicting!!
We are @ 4,900 feet. I've got a large garden area, but haven't gotten around to doing much.....we got here a bit late, but I did plop in a few jalapenos and basil just to 'get a feel' for it....they're doing fine.... There is some stuff growing from the first owners, including a huge raspberry patch. (I prefer blackberries, but whatever). They are close to turning red....there are a lot of wild morning glories trying to take the patch over and they are really hard to yank out......we've had a lot of mosquitos, so I haven't been out a whole lot, but I am workin' on it...

Best thing I've found to do with a cast-iron pan is immediately after you're done cooking, while it's still hot enough to sizzle, just rinse it out with water and wipe it dry. (Works good with nonstick pans, too.) Peels everything right out of it and leaves it still seasoned. If you gotta polish one down, you have to get the whole surface to the same condition or you get sticky spots. Some people only wipe them out with a paper towel.

Nonstick pans are actually just as fussy -- once you start scrubbin' on 'em, it damages the surface. Better never to scrub on 'em if you can avoid it. If you have to, those "nonscratch" blue (NOT GREEN) things, the sponges with a scrubby side, work okay if you're gentle.

BTW I owe you an email but yours is stuck in an old folder that Seamonkey for some reason is refusing to have anything to do with.

LOL EH, I remember those commercials. :-)

BTW if your pan loses its seasoning just take some criso (shorting) smear it in your pan, put it in the oven on the lowest setting for an hour or so, bring it out, cool it off then wipe it out.
My big momma said never scrub your cast iron or your cake pans. :-)

Nor dry them. I put mine on a burner and let it get warm to dry off.

Same here. Burn them out, scrape, pour a little oil in and heat it up and wipe clean, then let her dry. Same way with my dutch ovens.

I took my son and a friend of his camping Mon and Tues and the spot where we camped off Holter lake someone left a 12" stainless steel Revere frying pan in the crook of a tree complete with lid, filled with the remnants of what I believe to be was week old burnings of fish in the pan.

So we threw it in the engine compartment of the boat and took it home.

And during the drive back I was thinking- man, I wish it were iron, but oh well. Good enough for a camp skillet

Okay cleaned that new 12" skillet up and it's a copper bottom Revere Ware skillet. Quick check on ebay and other places and it's anywhere from $35-$50.. SCORE!!!

We've got a 12" one that we've had since we got married (21 years) and this one looks better than ours! Guess one of the kids gets a 12" skillet when they get out of the house, lol.
