Wow, I disagree.
To me, Morrison had a great baritone and used it well.
Yeah he drank himself to death (I watched him pound the Coors in Denver, not long before he died) but I think he was a far better singer than Hendrix, who was an immensely talented guitarist.

As 6 Foot 3 says, when it comes to "The Best" there is no right or wrong, simply opinion.

Maybe the OP can correct me, but I think the object here is just to throw out your opinion, not to try to reach a consensus. If you think the best vocalist of all time is Kathleen Battle or Cecilia Bartoli, then put their name down.

.....
I thought he overdosed on heroin or some other drug and died of a heart attack.

Ray Manzerek is a great keyboardist.

I was only a 10-year-old kid when The Doors rose to the top of the charts in 1967, and I've never seen them in concert. I liked some of their songs though, LA Woman (yes I like her too ) Riders On The Storm, Light My Fire, and Break On Through, were some of them.

I think there were a variety of issues that led to his death.
Officially, it was heart failure--but no autopsy was performed.
Morrison drank a lot of beer, and had gained a lot of weight before he died, and I personally think alcohol *contributed* to his death.
However, drugs might well have been involved, too, he did drugs other than alcohol.
When someone dies at 27,there is likely to be a self-destructive aspect to it.

I agree, such a dangerous combination of drugs and alcohol will definitely destroy anybody, even a 27-year old.

Jim Morrison was 27 when he died. Kurt Kobain was only 27 when he died. Someone just told me not long ago that they 'think' Janis Joplin too, was only 27. My best friend from high school was 27 when he died. My friend Mikki died when she was only 37, from a brain anurism. Is that scarey or....?
(Dont hold me for positive with Janis though, its only hearsay).

I guess 27 was not a very lucky number for some rock musicians. Wow, I'm glad I made it past 27, even though I drank a lot of coffee and Coke back then... No, not that kind of Coke, the soda pop kind! Although I tried to snort coke one time, but the carbonation in it kept hurtin' my nose!
