Thank you both for the replies! What about a community college? My youngest son is graduating this weekend from high school and my 20 yr old daughter will bee coming with us. My middle son will be leaving for marine boot camp next month. And another question....is hermitage not a great area? I would really love my husband's commute to be around 20-30 minutes.... he works from home now.

Hermitage is an OK area, it's certainly not terrible. Lots of colleges around the Nashville area for not a problem anywhere really.

You also might want to check out Hendersonville. That would be in your commuting distance.

Hermitage isn't so bad. It's got a bad rep because of its public schools which is definitely deserved. Mt Juliet is growing quickly because it's safe, and its schools are excellent, and it is literally next door to Hermitage. I agree with those who have recommended MJ.

Hendersonville would fit the bill as well.

Vol State Community College is between Hendersonville and Gallatin, and is a good school.

Hermitage is ok, but Davidson County is predominantly Democrat. The burbs' around Nashville are more moderate/Republican. Your Trump sign probably won't go over well in Hermitage.

Where are you coming from in the Chicagoloand area?

Haha! I'm not sure if this was a joke or not but Hermitage certainly had many Trump supporters in the last election. It's not a strongly held Democrat territory like some of the urban core neighborhoods are.

I'm guessing Hilary/Trump both got around 50% of vote.

I love Centennial Beach in Naperville. I knew a few friends who went to Nequa Valley HS from college. They always talked very highly of Naperville/Warenville/Plainfield area. One time I made the trek up there and it was very pleasant in the late summer. I had Chicago pictured as being very cold around September but I was certainly wrong.

I'd recommend Mt. Juliet for the schools. If you don't have any more school-age kids, I'd suggest looking at Brandywine in Hermitage. It's also near Old Hickory Lake.

There are 13 community colleges in the state, run by a State Board of Regents. You can search for the college where you move. Nashville State has 3 campus, the main one on White Bridge not far from Target, 1 in Donelson on Elm Hill Pike, 1 in Antioch at the old Hickory Hollow mall. https://www.nscc.edu/

Hermitage is a nice area not far from Donelson. Best known as the location of President Andrew Jackson home & plantation museum.
