Minimum wage isn't supposed to be decent money.

Look up the history of minimum wage. The minimum wage used to be tied to the cost of living.

Studies say it takes about $75,000 a year to live comfortably in most areas. Why not set the minimum wage at that?

Why pay three people $25,000 a year when you can pay one $75,000?

The average cost of living for a single adult is about 28K per annum. Minimum wage at 40 hrs/week with a couple weeks off is less than 16K.

Why pay one person a living wage when you can almost pay two and leave the rest for taxpayers to subsidize with food stamps and section 8? That's the corporate philosophy. Why should a COMPANY have to pay their labor when that deficit will be covered by subsidies?!? Every taxpayer subsidizes minimum wage...

The largest group of people making minimum wage supplement it with tips. Further, no one is entitled to a minimum level of income just for breathing. It's not an inalienable right.

Who is asking for minimum wage "just for breathing"?

But you're STILL kinda wrong. Because taxpayers subsidize the cost of living for every person who makes little or no money, no?

Yes, a lot of things are subsidized for the poor. Shifting more burden onto employers only assures they can employ less of those poor people.

So, people ARE "entitled to a minimum income just for breathing"? Is that what I'm hearing?

Are you admitting you're wrong? You don't think that money would be better served going from the employer directly to the employee... WITHOUT a government middle man to inject inefficiencies??

No, they aren't entitled to a minimum level of pay or government subsidies. Hear that?
