As someone else said VRE is in Woodbridge. It's in North Woodbridge near the line with Fairfax County.

Below is a 2010 breakdown of the demographics. Prince WIlliam County in general started seeing a large influx of Hispanics back in the early 80's with the exploding construction growth. Both Manassas and Woodbridge saw a huge growth. If you're bothered by the mix of races then Woodbridge might not be for you. There are some good safe neighborhoods in Woodbridge although like everywhere there is no perfect neighborhood.

I was asking about the demographic to figure out the type of restaurant out there.

i have to agree..

just asked my father who commutes from Dale City to the metro, and then takes that into Crystal City or DC..

if he leaves at 6am, it takes him 35 minutes to get to the metro via Hooes Rd.

in the afternoon, he tries to time hitting the HOV on ramp at FFX County parkway at Springfield right at 6pm, then takes him about 15 minutes to get to the Dale City exit..

There isn't much in your price range in Gaithersburg. Not sure what kind of place you are looking for, but you would have way more options in Woodbridge. Gaithersburg and Montgomery County in general are extremely expensive.

I commute from Lake Ridge in Woodbridge to Capitol Hill. Catch the bus around 7:40 and get off at the Department of Agriculture at 8:20 easy. Plenty of time to walk or take Metro for the rest of my trip by nine. I think an hour and a half is enough time to get to anywhere in DC from Woodbridge. I drove to Franconia Springfield the other day instead of the bus, and it was probably around a half hour.

If you're driving then definitely not. However, it is a 15-minute ride from Woodbridge to Franconia-Springfield via the VRE.

Woodbridge is probably cheaper, but Gaithersburg is probably a little better for a commute to DC, but not by much. As mentioned, there is MARC. The Metro Red line is a short bus ride away. In my case, a 7 minute bus ride to Shady Grove. It's 7 minutes to the station by car using 370. Both Gaithersburg and Woodbridge are quite a distance away from the city. We can do the commute, but it gets tiring. I would prefer to live closer in if I could.
