This is true, but some posters on this foru believe that mass transit is for the poor and UNSKILLED work force. Ive read many times that it is exclusively for them, while the well dressed SKILLED worker drive to work with no traffic. It is good to see your point of view, because it seems development near Sunrail would be the case. It creates some confusion sometimes. Always curious who Sunrail is for. Your take on it makes sense.

Like they said, it's their personal car. I read somewhere a lady rides SunRail (didn't mention where she gets on in the mornings and how she gets to the station), rides to Sand Lake Road, gets in her personal car, and drives to work. Then does the reverse in the afternoons.

In cities where it's only buses, they pander to that market by getting buses with no legroom, never cleaning them, and hiring the worst drivers they can find. But rail attracts more affluent riders, partly because it has a chance of beating traffic. These are the type who wouldn't ride the bus to save a few bucks when it would waste their time.

I agree, its just when I say it, someone says Sunrail is for the poor and UNSKILLED. We agree though, I think Sunrail is for everyone.

There are few low-skill low-wage jobs available on the SunRail line.
Historically commuter rail is not taken by those in such lines of work.

The fact Buddy Dyer hired a consultant to be paid out over $100 an hour to try to get people to ride SunRail is just further proof of our tax dollars being pissed away on this pet project that is serving so so so few people. Not because public transit isn't necessary- but they knowingly chose to go with the wrong thing.

Sun Rail loses 17 million a year. Now, if you want to call that a success we need to redefine the word success.

If you do not agree with this or simply do not believe in public transportation then don't ride it, but to refer to people as "mindless" simply because they rightfully support this major development in Central Florida history is simply not right..
It definitely supports the future of the Orlando metro. The land around and air space over these stations will became of value, especially when locals get tired of the sprawl. I just hope there will be stations the middleclass can afford to live near when that value spike happens.Good post MrKnight.

And is failing miserably with ridership numbers, hardly an "epic success" unless one is completely delusional.

Well they were expecting to exceed an average of 4,000 daily riders for the first year and for the past 3 months they have been averaging around 3,733 riders a day or about 93% of their ridership goal. Certainly not a failure !
