That's because we're not mindlessly bashing Pittsburgh on our forum.

eh, carson st is just a long row of bars and restaurants. center city is the name for the old city borders of philadelphia but includes a number of neighborhoods from old city (probably the most like carson st) to south st to "midtown, rittenhouse, chinatown, society hill/headhouse and fitler sq. some parts of it are quiet but there are something like 250 restaurants, 80k resisdents, and 220k workers or so. it has more people and stuf than carson st. if you're over 25 it sucks having to go to carson st IMO and developing other districts like downtown and lawrenceville will be good for the city. I suppose it has to end with this

That's true as well (on a metro-wide basis).

This is what I mean by people being misinformed. You just said that Carson is much bigger and livelier than Center City. Did you really just say that? I think your friends were referring to South Street... and you took it as Center City in general. Carson is just as lively as South Street... and no more so, even though it is slightly longer than the vibrant part of South Street. However... Walnut/Chestnut are 5 times more vibrant and busy than both Carson and South Street. Sooo pick and choose really. South Street isn't even Philadelphia's top nightlife spot anymore. That title probably goes to Northern Liberties or Old City.

If saying "bud" makes you sound blue collar, you sound blue collar, regardless of the wealth surrounding you. Heck, regardless of your own wealth.

You're right, not thuggish. But it definitely has a blue collar ring to it.
