If "god" is the one to define absolute truth, then you can't say that rules that applied then don't apply now. By that logic, you're disobeying "god" by not stoning disobedient children.

I don't support any form of prayer on the White House lawn.

I don't support any laws against blasphemy. That is a violation of free speech.

Stop generalizing.

you really need to get an education. we dont stone those that commit adultery either now do we? well iran does. much of thw world does not follow the dietary laws paid out either, why? technology has changed. we know how to cook pork today, and we have refrigeration. but dont forget that the bible also tells us that god is a loving god and as such has allowed a path to forgiveness through out the bible. try reading it sometime.

You just proved my point. If what is considered right and wrong changes with time, then the morals espoused by "god" aren't absolute.

I was raised in a Christian home and am very familiar with the Bible. Keep in mind that you don't know a person on a forum personally before you try to insult their knowledge of a topic or education. It makes your ignorance a lot clearer.

To answer your original question, it's because the majority of the people who support Islam come from the left, not the right. Sure, there are exceptions and you may be one of them, but as a general rule the liberals will back Islam especially if it gives them a chance to slam Christianity too.

To those who insist this is a Christian country:

Why do you need to say we are a Christian nation??? Isn't pride a sin?

Why do you want a theocracy?

Who do YOU want to rule? Catholics? Lutherans? Fred Phelps? Pedophile priests?

Since I'm not christian why do I have to pay taxes?

That is simply false. Arguing for religious freedom is not the same as "backing" a religion. Nobody is pushing for making Islam prayers (or prayers for any other religion) mandatory in public schools.

Exactly. There is a crucial difference between promoting any one religion and promoting religious freedom.

Nobody said anything about pushing for prayers in public schools?!! But, since you brought it up, what about how the liberals defended the California public school's decision to allow for prayer breaks to coincide with the seven daily prayers of Islam?

If you don't want to believe it's the liberals who rush to the defense of Islam, just peruse the posts here on CD. The main defenders of Islam hail from the left, not the right. Who defended that University's decision to install Islamic foot washing stations for muslims at taxpayer expense in Minnesota? (hint: it wasn't the conservatives).

Go back and do some reading, you'll see for yourself. It may not be about "backing" Islam so much as it is about defending it while also slamming Christianity, but the net result of perception is the same nevertheless.

why do some liberals on CD generalize about republicans/conservatives?

Isn't the DNC the party of tolerance?

I better stop now, any shots at the left wing would surely mean I'm a racist.
