OR...the simplest answer, in a straight line, looking at the "evidence", is that it was a deliberate union action.
No reason to come with a laundry list of hypothetical reasons why they weren't plowing.
I believe the person you were responding to is a former snow-plow operator. She just might know a little bit about her profession. PLUS, I have seen snow plows driving around my city with the blades up, too, and I've always wondered what that was all about. Now I know.

Uh-huh. That's why some of the NYC streets are still unplowed. What could be the reason now?
There really is no doubt this was a deliberate action by the disgusting union.

I'm sure the ones driving around with scoops up were a pro-active union activity to pre-empt the need to plow. By having scoops up, they can catch the snow before it hits the ground.
Gotta give the Union credit for thinking ahead, eh?

Oh, yeah... /sarc off
Do you live in a snowy climate? I think everyone who does has seen plows driving arouond with the blades up.

Between my husband and I we have 60 years of experience in the snow removal business---commercial private but we've rubbed elbows with a lot of city plowers over the years. What you are calling "a laundry list of hypothetical reasons" are not hypothetical at all. They all happen every night the plows go out for commercial, residential and municipal---union and non-union. Your "evidence" is based on nothing but hear-say based on observations from people who most likely don't have a clue. Why not wait until the city investigation is completed before you start bashing union workers? It's going to take a while to sort out what went wrong, what was preventable....and what wasn't.

You are missing the point of the thread. Finding out what went wrong is irrelevant, what the thread is for, is to bash Union people and hence, Obama, by way of extension.

Because that's the republican way, if there is even a drop of speculation to slam the left or unions, they exploit it to the fullest and don't care if they are right or wrong. Just look at what fox did with the shirley sherrod incident and broadcasting that the city of los angeles spent 1 billion dollars on jetpacks
