What a shame.
Ehat is really ironic are champagne socialists love having the US flooded with illegals and immigrants in general, yet that influx will attack the base of the Democratic Party, the working class and the poor. Its their wages that will be seriously diluted and the union power destroyed. Talk about the ultimate irony

What would happen if we let foreign people into the US? Ahhh, probably the same types of things that have happened throughout our history.

Uh, the title of this topic was about allowing in "all" immigrants. You actually think we can accomodate every foreigner who wants to come here? History cannot be compared with today. When the first immigrants arrived we were a wide open frontier, sparsely populated with plentiful jobs and resources. Not so today. You don't know the difference?

There are only 3% of illegal immigrants working in the ag industry so that shoots your theory right down, doesn't it? The other 97% are doing jobs that Americans will do and I doubt that even in Mexico that those 12 million illegal immigrants were doing farm jobs.

Yes it is when that competition if from illegal immigrants that don't even have a right to be here or work in this country and we have 23 million Americans out of work.

Open immigration is not compatible with the goals of a working social welfare system. It's also incompatible with the goals of environmental protection and sustainable development. Squishy feel good "I have a favorite Mexican restaurant and therefore am so multicultural" liberals need to start making a list of priorities and sticking to it, lest their fate be that of disarray like today's conservatives.

Open immigration does not compute, and cannot work in today's world with progressive goals in mind. Does not compute because resources are finite. A balance must be kept in all things.

No country in the world that seeks or has a decent standard of living can sustain a barrage of the world's poor moving in, increasing the population by over 50% over even a period of 10 years, and then expecting to have even close to the standard of living we enjoy today.

So that means we should allow in any and all immigrants that want to come here in unabated numbers?

FYI, we are no longer a nation of immigrants but a nation of Americans. American citizens way outnumber any immigrants we have here and have for eons now. Time to shed that stupid label that infers we Americans don't have a country of our own.

Most American families have been here for decades and are at least two-three generations old. Most all were born here.

I'm really going to look forward to the know-nothing wing of the GOP to start foaming at the mouth once the immigration reform bill or bills start getting closer to being passed and signed by Obama. I will be making popcorn and enjoying the gnashing of teeth and impotent rage.
We need a declining population. We have too many people here now competeting for jobs and resources. Legal immigration should be in controlled numbers to fit our needs. Illegal immigration is out of the question! Nice to know that you will be making popcorn when and if 12 plus million illegal immigrants are given permission to stay and continue to compete for jobs and resources that we don't have and will be rewarded for breaking our laws. What kind of an American would be ecstatic about that? Leave party affiliation out of this. As loyal Americans regardless of our party affiliation we should appalled at this.

I'm sure that won't stop people, who don't actually understand the debate, from calling the whole complicated process as amnesty.
I makes no difference what you want to call it. Amnesty, legalization, CIR a path to citizenship, etc. As long as these lawbreaker are allowed to remain here it is wrong to reward them in that manner and it is wrong for the American people. Or don't you give a damn about American citizens?

Maybe you could review the meaning of "Immigrant".
