Gradually greatly reduce services, one neighborhood at a time. When pop shrinks under 250k, start offering buyouts. Where not accepted, use eminent domain to seize property.
Ah, the Big Intrusive Nanny State Government response. That's sure to work.
Wow. Talk about profiling, you are the poster child. Is that demographic all that lives in the south? I think not. Who says "da libs"? That sounds more like someone from the northeast, but that's profiling too, isn't it?
Seriously, it isn't like northern states don't have trailer parks.
Business brings tax revenue. Lower the tax burden on business and an economy will thrive.
To lefties, that doesn't sound "fair".
No. To lefties, that doesn't sound "true". Taxes are at record lows, profits at record highs. Why is unemployment high? Why haven't low taxes created jobs like you guys think they will? Why was the economy thriving 50 or 60 years ago when taxes were considerably higher?
I think the thing the right hates most about us regular people is that we don't pretend it's raining as per spec when you try to **** down our necks.

It's also not as if there aren't plenty of progressive, more liberal cities that are flourishing, or neoconservative rightwing stronghold cities that are dumps on the steep decline.
People shouldn't use such broad brushstrokes and overgeneralize and play into stereotypes as much as they do. It just makes the people who do that appear ignorant.
The real travesty here is that this country has allowed one of its great cities to fall into this level of disarray. It's always convenient to use veiled racism and party politics to construct scapegoats. However, If you want to look at the real culprits, look no further than the corporate entities that abandoned the city in droves--and took employment and industrial tax base with them.
It's not too late to save Detroit, but the city will have to be re-imagined. Doing that effectively will certainly require the city to make changes. It will also require the state of Michigan and the nation to assist.
We already "bailed out" the "Corporate entites" called Auto Manufacturing - Obama campaigned in 2012 on how he kept Motor City from Bankruptcy. Detroit will have to 'save' itself - the State of Michigan is doing it's part by sending in the Experts that accessed the damage from 50 years of bad and sometimes corrupt leadership - they filed the paperwork on the Bankruptcy. Orr and Snyder had to file the Bankruptcy when it became clear that the Unions were not going to budge on anything. Read the report I posted, it's the results of an audit (thanks to Mayor Bing) that was begun in 2012 - you will find the "real culprit" and what happened to the "tax base".
Those same Unions could have made moves over the years to "save" their City, but they chose to Drain it of it's life-blood. Now they will have to deal with that. I think they all thought they could kick that can down the road forever.
NO Federal involvement - if the Feds decide to start bailing out these Union run Cities and States, I think it will cause a revolution in this country.
The right wingers all the time, also "O'bummer" "*******s" "communists" "marxists" "socialists" and a slew of other childish names that Beck programs them with. It's all they do.
