Are you fooling yourself with that propaganda or willfully spreading it?

The elderly specifically PAID into the Social Security and Medicare Programs. They are getting what they paid for. Also, social security can be subject to federal income tax.

In regards to the people who make a profit off of federal income tax. They are doing so because they are poor. Most of the poor and high school drop outs vote Democrat. This is an indisputable fact.

Most of the people that are profiting off of federal income taxes vote Democrat. Hence the constant class warfare from Obama to fire up his base.

Pure and simple. I don't care what their circumstances are, they are deadbeats.

I don't have a problem with some form of a progressive tax structure.

However, Democrats clouding the facts of the issue and outright lying on major premises are signs that they realize the current structure is not defensible.

Saying that teachers and firemen pay a higher rate than Romney is a lie. Per CNN Romney's rate was estimated to be higher than 80 to 90% of the country. My sister in law had a negative tax rate for 2011 (I do her taxes with TurboTax which calculates your effective rate) - got back more than she paid in and was repeating the Obama sheep herding lie that she paid a higher effective rate than Mitt Romney. I asked her what proof she had as her rate was negative and Romney's released rate was ~14%, she responded well I am a teacher. Obama loves the ignorant.

Yes, virtually every tax-eligible person pays local and state taxes and receive local and state benefits and services. BUT... It is an actual fact that approximately 47% of the income tax-eligible pay no federal income tax whatsoever. Since they're not contributing, should they be receiving federal government benefits and services (other than SS and Medicare for which they ARE paying)?

The bottom 99% earn over 60% of the income. That's where the majority of the income is, not in the top 1%.

Read this to understand why over-reliance on any income group for income tax revenue is a huge mistake:

Wonder why Romney would only release the two most recent years of tax returns? You can only amend them so far back. As far as people like your sister-in-law, does she have kids or make less than $20k? I pay more taxes than my co-workers with children. Parents get those pesky tax credits--maybe they should be eliminated. I'd like to know how to get a negative tax rate unless you are at poverty level--obviously there are too many loopholes and credits. Why don't you call for tax reform so your sister-in-law pays her share instead of making arrogant statements and calling people liars?

Actually, the elderly are receiving more from Social Security than they paid in due to living longer than previous generations. Wealthy retirees who do not need Social Security also take it--how about some means testing?

Not anymore:
Quote:
As recently as 1985, workers at every income level could retire and expect to get more in benefits than they paid in Social Security taxes, though they didn't do quite as well as their parents and grandparents.

Not anymore.

A married couple retiring last year after both spouses earned average lifetime wages paid about $598,000 in Social Security taxes during their careers. They can expect to collect about $556,000 in benefits, if the man lives to 82 and the woman lives to 85 [both exceed actual average life expectancies], according to a 2011 study by the Urban Institute, a Washington think tank.

Social Security benefits are progressive, so most low-income workers retiring today still will get slightly more in benefits than they paid in taxes. Most high-income workers started getting less in benefits than they paid in taxes in the 1990s, according to data from the Social Security Administration.

Who doesn't pay taxes?

Unless you are in one of a very few places, if you work, own property (including vehicles frequently) or purchase anything, you are paying taxes.
