Comparisons with Hitler are over the top. Columbus did not come to the w. hemisphere to commit genocide on the Native Americans. He was trying to get to Asia. Regardless of one's feelings about what happened, the holiday, etc.

Oh dear. I didn't compare anyone to Hitler, as a simple reading of my post would show.
I do invite you to actually read the conversation we were having here before posting.
How is that post stupidity?, America is the refinement of the best ideas of past societies mixed in with the burning need of the human condition to be free..I never said anything other wise?
I am not the one comparing Columbus to Hitler, I think I am the one needing to be schooled.
Of course I didn't make any such comparisons. I also invite you to re-read and stop making things up about my posts.
Unless, of course, that's all you have, in which case, well, I can't comment according to the TOS.
Face it, Curmudgeon, you're spewing nonsense whenever you try to talk about people you don't know, in a vacuously lame attempt to deflect attention away from points you don't like but for which cannot construct a reasonable or legitimate rebuttal.
This lame attempt at deflection of yours takes the cake: We're talking about one holiday that celebrates an Italian-born explorer, sailing under contract from the Spanish crown, establishing a Spanish colony, and several Christian holidays, and you try to excrete an assertion that those things are in some way patriotic America. I don't think I've seen you post a more ridiculous bit of claptrap.
I know full well the history of the observance, bUU. I also know your posting manner well enough to know that things that are reasonable or legitimate to you are often one-sided talking points that show little originality. I also know that the day was celebrated for decades without major issues until the unthinking politically correct decided to take it on. Yet another instance of a harmless, American tradition being thrown on the trash heap by the enlightened which no doubt pleases you greatly. Now by all means feel free to have the last word.
Most of them in the West, chiefly this one. As those of color have protested and fought against biased history, things have improved, but are not where they should be.
I haven't noticed any biased history. Give me some examples.
Columbus never came to america! However he was in the AMERICAS but not what is known as USA
The USA is part of America. Columbus did come to America.
