In what state is this true. In all states ID proving you are a citizen and a resident of the state must be presented either via information gated on the form or by submitting copies(or even the original).

One does have to wonder how these poor souls who find getting a picture ID an impossible task manage anywhere else picture id's are required.
Convicted felons can vote. They simply can not vote while in jail, but felony is not a life time bar against voting.

It has been quite awhile, but I don't remember being required to "prove" I was a citizen prior to registration.

You had to submit either documentation or information that proves you are a citizen. if you go through the full requirements for your state, the documents, information or combination of them are what prove it.

in IL you can vote once released from jail. A person that is released from jail has been considered to have served their sentence and for the most part can do anything.

As Florida and other places continue to demonstrate lots of felons and legal immigrants vote illegally. And they all have photo ID. I would also note the dead generally don't sign voting books or appear. The voting of the dead, when does occur is on a significant scale and involves poll or electlion workers not people appearing in polls.

The impact on the poor and minorities has been demonstrated. Not huge - two or three percent. But the Republicans hope that, combined with gerrymandering and other voting restrictions it will gove them an edge.

The proof of all this is relatively clear in the lack of interest in absentee voting which is well known to be the principal source of voter fraud. That segment however is believed to vote Republican and therefore no restrictions are needed.

Both parties gerrymander - another piece of evil politics. Need to figure a way to stop that.
