This holds more than a little truth.........

Our press is always the first attack and its attacking him. Something has got under his skin....Probably thinks the human rights orgs criticizing his drug war are US proxies or some such.

The other factor is simply China which certainly makes a tempting market. China just relaxed on trade which it had cut off.

Though I would say Duterte is over playing this.

Obama has screwed up again but Duterte is admittedly a psycho who has authorized 3600 'street justice' killing of drug dealers in a few short months. I work with several Filipinos that love Duterte so they will likely follow whatever he does. Of course a guy like Duterte is just as likely to jump in his jet ski and attack China as he said before he would do.

This is pure nonsense. Explain how the US uses the Philippines as an economic colony? We're not the ones trying to steal the Scarborough Shoal, China is. What's even more funny is, Duterte is going to let them. There are US companies in the Philippines that employs people. Is that your definition of an economic colony?

Does anyone honestly think that China is going to treat the Philippines fairly? Only someone not very bright.

This is why you don't need or don't have any allies. There are only friends with benefit.

We simply need to accept the fact that it is a multi-polar world. Our mindset has to change, because it isn't 1950 or 1960 anymore. Ironically, a multi-polar world might actually benefit Americans even more, because our government won't be able to do whatever it wants all over the world and we'll simply have to spend all of our money at home rather than maintaining military presence abroad, paying for other peoples' security, and waging endless wars that have unforeseen blowback.
