Filipinos are as much a mix of people's as their language is of tounges. Spanish, Asian, Polynesian, indigenous people, like Negritos and Mangyan, and Tagalog shows those influences. They have been considered the red headed stepchildren of Asian peoples, and yes, they do have an inferiority complex. Japanese see treatment of Filipinos during WW2, showed, and still reflects, how the Japanese view them.
The Mangyans, and especially the Negritos, hate Filipinos. With a passion. Traditionally, they have been the people the Filipinos have vented their complex on.
No love lost there. The PI is an...interesting..place. But, hey, if they figure China will treat them as equals, and wish to fall into their loving embrace, more power. Good luck with that. People who think America is racist, should really take some time and spend it in Asian countries.
Eh, the world is multi-polar, we just need to accept it and move on. 'Superpower' is a term that is a relic left over from the 20th century that should be relegated to talks about 20th century history . Whether we like it or not, we should absolutely treat China as an equal big brother. Russia should be treated as such too. There's nothing wrong with maintaining world order and peace by giving the US-Russia-China each their own spheres of influence. Who cares if China is communist and Russia is run by a heavy handed oligogarchy? It is not our place to tell people what to do and how to run their countries; the sooner we realize that we simply have to make deals and work with peoples' and countries as they are and not how we want them to be, the world will be better off. The reason why the West keeps losing is because we're still stuck in the mindset that in order to work with us or to make a deal it is either 'my way or the highway'. China, for example, has a policy of non-interference when making deals while western nations demand that you become a democracy if you want to work them. There are too many problems in this world like global warming, terrorism, nuclear arms control, or not allowing the internet to become the wild west that will absolutely require cooperation from all major players like the US-China-Russia-Europe. The more we antagonize countries like China and Russia, the harder it is to get things done to address problems that the entire planet faces which no no boundaries.
China doesn't abide by rules though they want to push the Philippines around and possibly take it over. The US doesn't go down to the Caribbean and try to take it over. China pushes smaller countries around and it's only for it's own benefit.
It doesn't matter if it's in Asia or not the country identifies more with a US, Australian, or Europe lifestyle. They don't like China and they don't want to be part of China, or be anything like it.
It's pretty obvious that you're not looking at our history with our neighbors in this hemisphere and how we treat them or have treated them in the past.

Mmmm...no. The PI is much more like SE Asia, than Western countries. Culture and lifestyle wise anyway. They, of course, adapted to benefit from the presence of other countries, especially the US. Now, they are looking to China. The dictatorship is anyway. They need a heavy foreign presence to bring in money. The "government" will benefit the most, but the people will as well. Adapting to cater to the wants and need of whoever is there and has money to spend. Just like they did with the US.
There is a term, in Asia, "fragrant grease". This isn't lost on the current regime. He's just fishing around to see who can rub the most on his hands. China may do so, but they will never view Filipinos as equals, or even as valued ally or as an asset. Other than a regional staging ground, that is. Their only problem with the Philippines, is that it's full of Filipinos. Rest assured, though, the can find a use for them. China is pretty good at...managing human assets, as it were.

I didn't say there was anything "wrong". The Chinese don't have a "Father knows best" mentality? Really? Lol, ok. All I can suggest is to read my post a little closer. Maybe try to not think like an American , just for a minute. I have a game that we brought back from the PI, played on a round board, with marbles. The object is to jump the pieces, till only one is left in the center. This game is a real insight into the Asian mind. You can't beat it if you think like a non Asian.
No, a PI, Chinese "partnership" has nothing "wrong" with it. But the ...specifics..of that partnership , well, that depends on your way of thinking.
All obozo cares about is his legacy. Many countries in the world hate us now because of him. Its a proven fact. He also tries to suck up to our enemies (such as cuba and iran) which hate our guts.
