No justice in this town. Neither officer was charged and charges against Yourse were not dropped until both resigned..
I could see charging the one officer with simple assault or disorderly conduct. What would you charge the other officer with? Either one is a class 2 misdemeanor in North Carolina, mandating no jail time on the first offense, but you could get him with a fine of up to $1000 (though it would be less than that since he currently does not have a job). Either one is eligible for expungement after 2 years, so no criminal record at that point. Neither would be disqualifying from him getting a job as a police officer elsewhere.

Maybe it would make the community happier to see the officer charged with something, but it would be a lot for extracting an extra $1,000; with the added risk of him beating the indictment. Disorderly conduct does not necessarily mean charging the person he attacked, but it is a law designed for charging all people involved.
So, you're the DA. What do you do in that situation? Either option looks pretty much like a pyrrhic victory with the additional risk of failing to get a conviction.

The bolded statement can't be farther from the truth BentBow. I rolled through baghdad and there where teenagers up and down the streets flipping us off. I didn't beat the snot of of them because in a high stress environments disciple is critical. And holding people accountable and good training is key to a disciplined force...

An accessory to the crime. The police charge people with this all the time...

I watched the video. This is one of the few stories where I agree that the cops were wrong. In this case I think the male cop should have been charged.

The problem is we can't have a serious discussion on policing and/or racism when one side (the SJWs) refuse to utilize information/technology and examine these incidents on a case by case basis.
As for this specific incident:
1. Fired
2. Charged to fullest extent
3. Complete review of all their previous arrests
4. Complete internal investigation by outside source of the department
